HTML5 drag & drop HTML5 builder. Will it be useful for developers?

Discussion in 'HTML & Website Design' started by Henry_Lam@ih5, Jul 21, 2017.

    Hi Guys!

    We launched the beta version of our online drag & drop HTML5 maker recently. It is not something similar to Wix or Squarespace that allow customization on "title" "body" "image" only. VXLab is more of a visualized coding builder, you can set event, timer, counter, even database, all without coding.

    Find out more:www.vxlab.com

    We figured that our tool will be a huge time saver for developer and designers, especially front end developers. But the best way to find out is by sharing it. Feel free to become our beta users, all features are open to everybody now, we would love to hear your feedbacks!

    Hi Blank,
    Thanks for the comment! Allow me to explain this:
    They are actually our clients, in China. We have been doing well in China for 4 years, the recently launched oversea version is the newest version. here is our Chinese version:
    www.ih5.cn

    Things are a bit different in China, HTML5 contents are widely adopted in Wechat, the social media giant. Many companies use our tool to create HTML5 content for marketing, so the clients you mentioned above are real, we have a sales team in China.

    Thank you for point this out, it is a bit confusing.

    Thank you! At first it looked like a new venture, therefore the comment. 4 years is enough and China .. You've done some good job! :)

    Based on what I see, your so-called designer must be another Turdpress descendant. Given that your website looks like shit, I would never use or recommend anything that you have.

    You have obviously never checked your landing page for errors either >>> https://validator.w3.org/nu/?showsource=yes&acceptlanguage=&doc=http://www.vxlab.com/

    Landing page is NINETY THREE lines long and has THREE errors? That is an error rate of FOUR PERCENT, which is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE for ANY web page and totally unacceptable in most industries. If you had at least checked for errors (too lazy maybe?) you could have easily fixed them since there are only 3 errors. If you are lazy and/or incompetent here, HOW ARE WE SUPPOSED TO BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE PRODUCING A GOOD PRODUCT?

    Further, you are STEALING bandwidth because you are loading TWELVE, yes TWELVE, javascript libraries on a page with ONLY 93 LINES OF CODE. Incredibly UNREAL. How in hell is someone supposed to view your page if he is FORCED to turn javascript off because of the bandwidth you are STEALING from him? If your page will not work with javascript OFF, then it SHOWS US that you have NO clue about how to design a website, MUCH LESS HOW TO DESIGN A WEBSITE BUILDER.

    And if you think this is harsh, just wait until the Master (@deathshadow) reviews this dung heap.

    Not interested for websites but interested in how you can make life easy for marketing... I only used wechat while my daughter was on a school trip to China & nothing else would work but might go an take another look.

    First off the mere NOTION of a "drag and drop builder" is putting the cart before the horse; focusing on presentation before you even have the sane and rational markup that should be in place before you even THINK about what a site looks like. HTML is for saying what things are for ALL users, not just the magical combination of perfect vision, screen size, and resolution YOU happen to be fortunate enough to have.

    This is because HTML is for non-sighted user-agent software as well -- screen readers (software that reads the page aloud), braille readers, search engines; ALL are valid user-agent types that HTML should be written for and why if you choose your HTML based on what you want the page to look like -- and I extend this mentality to classes and ID's -- you are choosing the wrong markup for the wrong reasons.

    To that end starting out screwing around dragging and dropping stuff in a wysiwgy -- much like pissing out a PSD in Photoshop -- us utterly back-assward and the fastest route to making bloated, slow loading, inaccessible laundry lists of how NOT to make a website.

    That the SITE for your project starts out with illegible colour contrasts due to white over a bandwidth wasting irrelevant image in a "every ***ING bootstrap site ever" design? NOT encouraging. That the site isn't even responsive? EPIC /FAIL/ at web design. That said page then AXAX's in the content telling large swaths of users to go **** themselves? well that's just the turd icing for the prairie pie.

    Seriously, when in my daily driver browser all I get is a giant blank page of NOTHING because Ghostery told your sites codebase to sod off -- you've got problems.... Scripttard problems pissing all over the place with JavaScript in a manner DESIGNED to tell users you don't give a flying **** about them.

    This is EXACTLY the type of artsy-fartsy scam artist scripttard BS I'm always talking about being nothing more than a way to saddle up rubes and nubes who don't know any better, and anyone DUMB ENOUGH to use it deserves the steaming pile of epic failure your system seems to be designed to vomit up. To call ANY of what it does a website is an insult to the very concepts of usability, sustainability, graceful degradation, and accessibility that caused HTML to even be CREATED!

    I've seen less incompetence from people still using Netscape Composer 4

    HTML5 contents are mainly used in the "moments" function in Wechat, something similar to the Facebook timeline. Marketers can run interactive ads on moments and the most popular format is HTML5.

    Hi mmerlinn,

    Thanks for check out errors for us, we did check for errors. But those are not errors, they are there for a reason, say allow data to stock in any cache area, forbid scale function for viewport, using the newest version of IE / Chrome for rendering etc.

    For the javascript part, 1) We are not STEALING bandwidth, most of the JS are important. The functionality of our tool is building on them. 2) Many websites won't be the same with Javascript OFF as well, Could you show me a good example of online tool website works well with javascript OFF?

    Thank you for taking the time to write this comment, we do expect a harsher comment from you after you use our tool for 10 minutes.

    To be frank, if you use that defense for those, you AGAIN are simply proving you don't know enough about HTML to be making software to let others create websites! From the X-UA BULLSHIT, to the broken viewport META telling mobile users to go *** themselves, to dicking around with cache-control in the document where it does exactly two things; Jack and shit -- and Jack left town... Your willful ignorance of how to leverage HTML or website delivery properly makes me pity anyone DUMB ENOUGH to use anything you would create.

    Probably why you're gullible enough to think such a 'tool' serves any purpose other than to scam ignorant fools. The whole thing falls into either one of two categories:

    1) Just plain ignorance and incompetence.

    2) An outright scam to try and wow people who don't know any better with "ooh flashy"

    Now I am honestly confused, our tool supports PC / Mac only, our tool was not designed for the mobile users. I don't see why being mobile friendly is important at the beta test period.

    Our tool does a lot more than WIX in case that is what you are picturing about our tool. I was seeking opinion about the tool but now you make you wonder what HTML5 really is. Is the landing page so awful that a developer will stop before even try the tool out?

    It is not about whether your tool works on mobile or not. It is about HOW BAD YOUR CODING PRACTICES ARE. If you are unable or too incompetent to MAKE COMPLIANT WEB PAGES FOR YOUR OWN SITE, HOW are we to believe that your tool has the capability to make compliant web pages for others?

    ... and is that an excuse for the website for the product, or what the product vomits up -- because in either case with mobile traffic now EXCEEDING desktop traffic online, you're limiting your audience and calling into question your competence. Of which I see none...

    Not a great thing to compare yourself to, given what an incompetant disaster of nube predating scam artist BULLSHIT Wix and it's kin/kine are. Again another dipshit tool by halfwits, FOR halfwits that exists for the sole purpose of duping people who don't know any better into THINKING they can make a website!

    The CONCEPT of your TOOL is so bad it would stop any serious developer before even trying it out. Your website simply reflects this as it is PAINFULLY clear you don't know enough about semantic markup, separation of presentation from content, semi-fluid elastic responsive layout, logical document structure, or accessibility minimums to have any clue what a website REALLY is. You've likely been saddled up by goofy tools like wix, and now are trying to replicate their SCAM!

    Starting out building a website by dicking around visually is an utterly and completely back-assward approach to using HTML. This is why drag and drop/wysiwyg tools are nonsense, why garbage like "preview panes" in garbage like Dreamweaver is gibberish, and why the PSD jockeys out there spanking it in photoshop and calling themselves "designers" are for the most part so ignorant of what DESIGN is they aren't qualified to design a blasted thing!

    <broken record>
    A proper responsive accessible website should be built via the following steps:

    1) Start out with your content or a reasonable facsimile of future content in a flat text editor organized sensibly as if HTML didn't even exist!

    2) Markup that content using semantics, saying what things ARE (paragraph, lists, tables) and establishing a logical document structure (h1..h6, hr) for all non-visual users. This is important not only for people on screen readers (software that reads the page aloud to you) but also braille readers, air puffers, search engines and so forth. Remember, there are more user-agents than just browsers, and search engines don't have eyeballs! Which is why apart from trying to stop you from pulling sleazy dirtbag tricks like content cloaking, search could really give a flying **** about your layout!

    3) Then and only then do you use CSS to create the layoutS (holding off on colours and presentational images), adding semantically neutral tags (DIV and SPAN) and classes/id's where and ONLY as needed -- said classes and ID's should ALSO say what things are and NOT what you want them to look like since they might get a different appearance on a different media target or device limitation. Your layoutS (yes, PLURAL) should be semi-fluid (width:auto with a max-width, maybe a min-width for legacy UA's), elastic (dynamically adjusting to the browser default font-size and not shitting itself with pixel declarations), and responsive (media queries to adjust the layout to as many device sizes as is feasable/practiceable)

    4) THEN you can add your colours, fancy font faces, presentational images (if any, thanks CSS3!) and so forth as a paint over to make it pretty.

    5) THEN you can optionally enhance the already FULLY FUNCTIONING page with JavaScript if desired.

    </broken>

    THAT IS WEB DESIGN!!! It's called progressive enhancement, and it's how you build accessible websites that gracefully degrade to be usetul to as many users as possible. ANYTHING ELSE is nube and rube predating scam artist BULLSHIT.

    Which is why any REAL developer would consider your tool to be bullshit... pointless, useless, vomiting up sites that are useless to real visitors and completely unsuited to any legitimate business. ONLY made worse by the scripttard animated nonsense that drags performance and speed into the ninth ring of hell and distracting from what's ACTUALLY important on the bloody page -- CONTENT!!!

    It is a poster child for everything WRONG with building websites "appearance first"!

    CONTENT FIRST my good fellow, CONTENT!!!

    Because this type of agonizing slow loading CRAP:
    http://www.vxlab.com/case/379?type=template

    Is just BEGGING to get a client sued or fined depending on what nation they are in. You put that type of idiocy on a website, you are screwing both yourself and the client. There's a reason you don't see that garbage on a lot of LEGITIMATE prosperous websites.

    I think you may have hit it on the head though -- you're wondering what HTML 5 is? That's because quite clearly you have ZERO clue what HTML is, or even is FOR!

    As evidenced by your website not even working scripting off and/or intentionally blocked -- which is why to even SEE you HAD a site there I have to disable Ghostery and NoScript. As evidenced by what your scripttardery is slopping into the page being utter and completely incompetent halfwit rubbish such as:

    (adding line-feeds for clarity, pulled from generated source)

    <body style="overflow: auto;">
    <div class="zopim" __jx__id="___$_21 ___$_21" style="margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; padding: 0px;

There is NO legitimate reason for the above to be much more than:

    <body>

    <div id="top">

    	</ul>

    Code (markup):
    NOR should you be using scripttardery to slop ANY of that into the page unless your SOLE intent is to tell visitors to the site to go **** themselves!

    HELL, even your meta are incompetent ignorant rubbish!

    meta name="description" content="VXLab, VXPLO Innovation, HTML5, HTML5 Maker, web game maker, html5 slideshow, html5 banner maker, HTML5 responsive templates, HTML5 templates free download, free HTML5 templates, responsive web design, website builder, Responsive Website builder, bootstrap website builder, Interactive content marketing, Interactive Design, Interactive design examples, what is interactive design">
        <meta name="keywords" content="VXLab, VXPLO Innovation, HTML5, HTML5 Maker, web game maker, html5 slideshow, html5 banner maker, HTML5 responsive templates, HTML5 templates free download, free HTML5 templates, responsive web design, website builder, Responsive Website builder, bootstrap website builder, Interactive content marketing, Interactive Design, Interactive design examples, what is interactive design">

    Code (markup):
    The description meta is supposed to be a natural language sentence or two to be shown beneath your <title> on your SERP listing. That's it, that's all it is for. It is NOT a place to blindly stuff keywords as gibberish.

    The keywords meta is called keywords for a reason. It is NOT keysentences, or keyphrases, or keyparagraphs, it's keyWORDS -- which is why it should be SEVEN OR EIGHT SINGLE WORDS (proper names excepted) that exist between <body> and </body> as CDATA (scripting off, so you don't even HAVE content to HAVE a keywords meta from) preferably NOT exceeding 96 characters. (some people say to use even less) -- you use more than that, you are likely to get slapped down by search for abuse.

    Just as having identical content in EACH of those META is even likelier to get you a pimp slap from search.

    JUST like this bit of asshat rubbish:
    <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge,chrome=1" />
    Code (markup):
    That X-UA nonsense exists to tell modern IE to use LEGACY rendering on a page, setting it to edge SHOULD be the same as not even HAVING that declaration, unless there is something disastrously and horrifyingly WRONG with your HTML. There is NO reason for any website written after 2003 to even need that meta, a laugh when it wasn't even introduced as a 'thing' until what, '07? DERP. ANYONE telling you to use that doesn't know enough about HTML to be building websites. PERIOD.

    When you cannot get even the most rudimentary and elementary parts of HTML correct, slop in ALL your content via JavaScript on pages that clearly have ZERO need for the mere PRESENCE of scripttardery, you are guaranteed to scare away any legitimate developer LONG before they even LOOK at your tool as again -- not to overuse the word -- it calls into question your competence much less your understanding of what HTML is, what it is for, or even how to use it properly.

    Much less EVERYTHING in your 'templates' section is EXACTLY the type of artsy fartsy non-content scripttard animooted BULLSHIT that legitimate developers have spent twenty plus years fighting against since the first day some dipshit dumped a animated GIF onto a page, much less flash -- just because you're using JavaScript to do it doesn't make it any better on the usability, accessibility, functionality, or loading speed front! The change in technology used to do it doesn't fix the fundamental "**** you" to users that type of artsy-fartsy bull gives to large swaths of users!

    Bottom line, EVERYTHING about your project -- the site it is hosted on, the example templates, the MERE CONCEPT of what your tool is supposed to even DO much less the scripttardery used to do it, should send any LEGITIMATE developer who knows even the most basic parts of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Accessibility RUNNING TO THE HILLS! It is conceptually flawed from inception and the antithesis of sane and rational web development!!!

    JUST like the nube predating scam artist bullshit that is Wix, Weebly, Dreamweaver, Frontpage, Web Expression, dicking around drawing PSD's in photoshop, etc, etc, etc, etc. Strictly the province of nubes and rubes in terms of thinking it has value, and that of snake oil peddlers in terms of offering it to clients.

    Anyone that would even be LOOKING for a tool that does what yours does is unqualified to even HAVE a website, much less build one as they've utterly and completely missed the POINT of websites!

    @deathshadow would you consider building a similar tool that will execute fairly perfect HTML/CSS/Javascript scripts? It's a niche that will never dry out. Just to think how many people attempt to make new websites and/or blogs every single day... hundreds of thousands? Possibly more. Some businesses and individuals run quite successful websites built with wix. Same goes for blogger and wordpress. If you or someone could come up with a tool that can execute a good script, while having similar bells and whistles, I guarantee you, it's only a matter of time before that website building tool makes it big.

    I am sure our tool does what you expect but nobody here bothers to find out because in their standard our landing page looks like sh*t.

    I'm not even close to thinking that the two are even compatible conceptually. It's like the lesson the USAF learned the hard way after WWII how "one size fits all fits nobody" -- the flaw of averages. Unifying any codebase that much removes the capacity to properly implement accessible design. Halfwit GARBAGE like WYSIWYG's completely compromise the CONCEPT of semantics preventing the people WRITING the content from learning the first damned thing about logical document structure.

    What these tools hide from the content generators are the minimums you should learn before being allowed to even WRITE content for a website! Again why such tools are utter and complete chazerei for anything more complex than a blog for grandma.

    Thanks to the endless stream of nubes and rubes who don't actually care about their websites?

    Or are under the DELUSION that they are, as their sites turn away massive amounts of lost conversions though high bounce. Setting aside everything I know about websites as a developer, as a VISITOR to websites I've never seen a page built with those tools you just mentioned that weren't inaccessible messes, BEGGING to be sued or fined for failing to meet accessibility minimums (which most site owners should be thankful they don't fall under that set of rules or 90% of the web would land in court), and being such a pain in the ass with broken layouts, forcing me to override styles with legible contrasts through stylish, disabling or bypassing broken scripting with Ghostery or Tampermonkey... that more often than not I'll say screw it and go to some other website where I don't have to jump through all the flaming hoops!

    In terms of usability, accessibility, and user experience, sites built with those tools are nothing more than a giant "F*** YOU!" to USERS like me! Again, even setting aside what I know about development.

    Where those bells and whistles are usually the sleazy shortcuts I rail against ANYONE using in the first damned place, or goofy artsy crap that I would never advise ANYONE to put on a website.

    The very CONCEPT of these "tools" is the antithesis of accessible site design, good user experience, graceful degradation, or any of the other BASIC ideas that led to websites even being a thing! In that way... yeah, this kind of nails it now that I think about it.

    These tools put SO much effort into being user-friendly to the people plugging content into them, or slopping together "gee ain't it neat" features, or flashy artsy garbage that has NO business on websites in the first place, that they simply flat out don't give a flying purple fish how many VISITORS to the resultant pages they tell to BOHICA, Here's the big green weenie; and if you're LUCKY they might hand you a tube of lube. The user friendliness that sells people making sites using these tools destroys the usefulness and accessibility of those sties for visitors... and at the end of the day websites should be built for the vistiors needs, NOT the maintainers. That's why it's called WORK.

    ... and there are a lot of users out there reacting to these pages like I do, who simply bounce as they don't know how to voice their objection or recognize what's wrong. They just see "yet another" broken cookie cutter slopped out content-lean artsy fartsy train wreck that bounces them to someplace else unless they basically HAVE to put up with it... and if it's something they "have" to put up with -- like a bank, or hospital, or public utility -- it's usually not long before the court case or government investigation follows!

    But again, the people ending up with those types of train wrecks and the litigation that follows were my core audience for a decade, so I'm somewhat more aware of what can land you in trouble than most "hurr durr I cans has a websitz?" numbskulls DUMB ENOUGH to think they can just slop their text and some stock images into a goof-assed WYSIWYG tool and have a useful website for their "business" --- and yes, that's air quotes around "business" since any SERIOUS business would probably know better by now.

    Relegating such tools squarely into the province of being nothing more than --- as I keep saying -- sleazy scam artist nube predation.

    It runs a LOT deeper than that, the page is just systemic of deeper rooted conceptual flaws. Simply put, what your tool DOES isn't something I would EVER put on a website or advise anyone else to do either. INHERENTLY, what you're tool creates has NO business on a legitimate website that cares about accessibility, usability, or user experience. It's artsy fartsy merry men in tights spanking it on the graphics tablet in the front seat of their Prius in the parking lot of Starbucks nonsense.

    No, just merry.

    From what I see in your "templates" area, which seems to be the closest I can find to an actual demo of the results, the resultant slow loading, goofy animated rubbish vomited up by your "tool" is the SAME type of broken, garbage nonsense people were trying to piss on websites fifteen to twenty years go with flash or Java. The change to using JavaScript to do it doesn't fix the underling usability, bandwidth, and accessibility concerns that put such concepts on EVERY "don't do this on a website" list of the previous decade!

    Probably time to resurrect such lists for the younger generations who haven't been told any better.

    Though if in that mess of a site SOMEWHERE you had a standalone example of a typical resultant site built with your tool, that would go a LONG ways towards making it just how clearly this would *** over a website or not...

    It's not just that your site "looks like sh*t", it's slow, hard to navigate, counterintuitive to find much of anything, provides no standalone examples of the result, and the mere CONCEPT of what your tool is supposed to DO is the opposite of anything that those of us so objecting to it would EVER consider ALLOWING on a website! It doesn't build or do what an actual DEVELOPER would EVER do on a WEBSITE!

    Though maybe the full stack crapplet junkies working in metro, nw.js, electron, etc. would go in for it. Christmas knows their entire way of doing things tells users with accessibility needs to sod off!

    Hell, I couldn't even figure out where the *** you actually GET the tool or start it or whatever, though I suspect that's Ghostery just flat out blocking it. And NO, I'm not turning Ghostery off so your scirpting can run roughshod over my system!

    @Henry_Lam@ih5

    For the record, your home page does NOT look like "Sh**" - it's actually a very intuitive and sensible layout with good color and font choices and does a good job of drawing the visitor's attention to the right places without being cheesy.... The videos are a great touch as well, and I like your templates.... This actually looks like it would be a GREAT tool for marketers - NOBODY has time to code an entire site from scratch nowdays, and even if they DO have a year or so of free time to hand code an entire site and manually work out each and every kink and tweak it to launch-ready perfection - NOBODY DOES THAT - If anyone tells you otherwise, THEY'RE LYING OUT THEIR A** - so don't listen to the trolls, tools like yours are VERY much in demand, EXTREMELY useful and in fact I can see yours ending up on some marketers' "indispensable tools" list - Seriously :-P

    And again, completely ignore and disregard and ignore the toxic vomit @mmerlinn and @deathshadow spewed at you earlier in this thread...and based on their activity on this forum - pretty much anything they said....There's nothing wrong with your product OR your landing page - from a Visitor Perspective (most important) AND from an SEO perspective you're doing amazing...... 3 lines of code not compliant? "Only" 93% Compliant? F**K OFF - especially since by their own admission their "validity tester" isn't going to be 100% accurate 100% of the time, there are circumstances (such as in this case, where you provide a website TOOL) that deviate from the parameters that tool tests for, but are still coded COMPLETELY FINE....

    If you look at their previous posts, pretty much anything they've said on this forum - you'll notice a pattern with @mmerlinn and @deathshadow - they're trolls... plain and simple... never once do they have anything positive to say, and in every interaction, they are launching an unwarranted, unprovoked and over-the-top harsh/vicious attack on someone who clearly doesn't deserve it, usually someone brand new to the forum and/or to webmastering/coding/marketing in general - and for no other reason besides the fact they believe, on some level, that the only way to keep people from noticing what pathetic, miserable, underachieving losers they both are is by pointing to some imaginary "fault" in someone who has no "backup" on this site and publicly shaming them for no real reason....

    In all probability, @mmerlinn and @deathshadow are more than likely 30-something year old virgins who either still live with their mothers or rent a room in someone else's house/apartment, are probably still enrolled at the local community (JR) college and still taking programming classes, nitpicking other people's coding and their business models, meanwhile they probably still work at Best Buy selling laptops to upper middle class UNIVERSITY-bound millennials who's semester spending money (apart from rent) stipend from their parents is projected to be more than @mmerlinn and @deathshadow make in a year.

    The most likely reason for @mmerlinn and @deathshadow are so aggressive in attacking new people here is that they probably got their A** kicked EVERY DAY in High School (or at least close to it) and this gives "behavior" gives them a sense of "power" that they felt stripped of back then while they were getting their (probably tubby) little a**es kicked - and they're probably WAY too chickens*** to say a damn thing they ever said in this forum to anyone in person - because they know it'd be wedgie time again

    anyway - don't let the haters discourage you - keep up the great work and congrats on your progress and 4 (I guess now close to 5?) years in China!
