Can anyone that has used these please tell me the main pros and cons of each?

Once I decide I plan to put in a lot of work to learn it and build my site.

    Here's my opinions.

Wix is easier to set up.

Wordpress can take some looking in your CPANEL if you're hosting it yourself. But most hosts have an auto-installer. It's just not as intuitive as Wix.

Wordpress is more customizable though and flexible. I think Wordpress is more powerful. If you are able to go with Wordpress, I'd go that way if you are more tech-savvy.

I prefer of using wordpress. You can maximize through the usage of different plugin. No need for advance knowledge of html / coding on the site, have a control on you're site and you can add multiple user.

We don't know enough about you and the site that you want to build.

A novice can build an amazing site on Wix but it has definite limitations.
The same novice can build an ok site on WordPress

With a bit of effort the novice can build an amazing site on WP but it depends on what you are trying to do.

Need to sync with inventory lists in the warehouse? Wix won't do it, and you'll probably need to write a custom plugin for WP but there is loads of help and tutorials to make it easier.

Need to display custom graphs based on data you will import? Wix won't do it but WP plugins will

If you are just wanting to create a blog then I'd go with a WP.com site.

Give us some hints about your goals and we'll be able to give you more specific feedback.

WordPress is easier compare to other because it has it's own plugins and hence can create a website in no time. WordPress has a drawback too that is it is not secured.

Wix is enticing but I suggest you go for Wordpress instead.
I have issues on ranking with Wix, so safe to say Wordpress will be a better choice.

If those are the ONLY choices, I'd probably suggest a shotgun blast to the head.

I recommend Wordpress. It's a reason why many businesses use Wordpress as a platform. Wix is easy for a beginner. Even a 5 year old can use it's drag and drop functions. Wordpress is also easy. There are many good videos on Youtube to get you started on Wordpress. The best thing with Wordpress is that it has many plugins that will help you to customize the website to your needs.

I would recommend WordPress because it can easily be integrated with several other platforms to perform numerous functions. Wordpress works easily with services such as MailChimp for email marketing, Zoho CRM for managing client interactions etc.

Are you looking to just establish a website or are you trying to build a following? Knowing your intention is the only way to answer this question, unfortunately.

Wow, this is still a thread -- ah, I see, the one sentence or less wonder-posters with their mouth-breathing halfwit "yup me-too's" are out in number... one-word singing the praises of garbage simply to prove they have no business offering an opinion on the subject.

If you are after learning something, I think you go with WordPress.
While studying you should learn basic understanding on PHP, HTML, CSS, jQuery/JS...
And soon you'll become an expert WordPress developer.

    I hope this help.
