UK to be exact. I have searched the internet and use PRWeb for my press releases, which worked ok but how can you submit your story on local newspapers so people can read about your story and website on the newspaper which will greatly help for brand awareness, etc.

Any journalists here on the forum or who have any experience on the subject, will appreciate your help..

Contact your local news editor by calling and leaving a brief voice pitch. Followup with a short press release (2 paragraphs) and then a quick email.

Remember: These people are on constant deadline. It may take 5 or 6 times to get a response. Keep following up and you will get a response.

Thanks a lot. So do I need to find all editors for UK newspapers? How can I find the editors and/or their emails?

Is there an online submission service like PRWeb targeting UK newspapers directly?

You could try looking at The Writer's and Artist's Yearbook, or The Writer's Handbook. They have listings of newspapers and magazines, usually with contact emails. Being print it might be a little out of date, though.

Thanks a lot for your ideas I will look for the latest editions for these books and hopefully find out some journalists. I will also check that blog post and let you know some info when I've found out how to sort it out.

I am not sure how it works in the UK, but in the US I find that at least in my area when I go to the websites of the local pages , they have on the editor page or contact page the email addresses of each section. I have e-mailed a few and gotten responses. Also in the newspaper itself they often list their e-mail addresses.

What I did to get in three local newspapers was email them my press release, website link and photo. I contacted six but the other three were all linked up anyway so I got it three and I was a local celebrity for two weeks.

Two of them came and took a photograph of me while the other just copied the press release. Local is best but if you have a really good story submit to the big ones. :)

Look in the newspapers you're targeting, and try calling/contacting each editor (for your topic) directly. It takes time to build a relationship, but in the long run it's definitely worth it. :)

It you're carpet bombing all local newspapers then I'm guessing your product's not local.....and the publishers won't be interested in writing/publishing an article.

They will be interested in the advertsing revenue that you could pay them to get an advert in their paper
    eg:
'Hey, i offer this great service in all parts of the UK. Check out our website for your nearest centre'
