Still using but some local directories..

 

Paid reputable directories are one of the factors for SERP.

Back like almost 20 years ago I used them and owned a few that did quite well. But there is no need for me to go to one unless you consider Yelp a directory...

If I can find an easy directory on the first page, then I use it.

 

Awww, Searching 'Human Edited Business Directory'...

 

Our directory is 100% human edited in few languages. We don't approve all the sites even after editors review fee paid, but we refund 100% of editors' review fee under 24 hours time period.

 

I personally think directories are no more good for seo. If you are looking for direct clients that is another thing but for seo its not a good option anymore. Also you can note that DMOZ also is closed which was one of oldest directory on internet.

Directories are STILL a huge benefit to SEO.
Google is not the only search engine. Any good webmaster keeps that in mind.

Keeping that in mind, realise that using directories it is easy to rank well with Bing and several other search engines.

Of course, I would only worry about directories that are going to provide you with a real value. Free instant submission directories are not going to help with Google, maybe others but not Google.

 

Directories are still a great source to acquire links and citations, especially for local businesses. So yes, I use them, but not like crazy.

1. Popular and generic national and global directories are always good to get a mention on.
2. Popular niche/industry directories are good as well.

If you use directories that have good authority, are relevant to your business and consistent, using directories will not be a problem.

Think quality, not quantity.

Stay a mile away from directories that are shallow, have less traffic and are not relevant to the nature of your business.

Quality always beats quantity!

 

- Totally agree, The business directory i run has good traffic, Higher percentage on those submitting but 80% of submissions are so low quality they get rejected.

Directories are still works. Though listed in renowned directories is difficult job. Free directories are just waste of time as they are full of junk. Go with Paid directories, it will still work.

 

directory still works. Add your website on local directory that will give extra boost to your site.

 

Local directories work wonders. Most likely to get indexed IMO.

 

I've set my business directory to use all Countries, It's doing ok.
