seriously over the age of 40 sounds pretty chaotic. I would recommend under 25 for martial art.

Not quite. I was 36 when I started. Can't imagine there would be a lot of difference in the 4-year difference though.

Not sure if this is considered to be martial arts, but I know a 59-year-old guy who has been doing Krav Maga for a couple of years and is apparently doing quite well. A lot of contact in that training. Older people are certainly more prone to injury, in my experience, but can participate in many sports as long as they are cognizant of the risk of injury.

Anything is possible- just needs dedication and discipline.
But doing those stretching exercises not gonna be easy if you never done it before and are starting after 40.

I agree. I watched younger guys doing splits during the stretching exercises and was amazed. I couldn't stretch my legs out far enough to form more than a sharp v, much less anything close to a straight line.

As you get older and new into it, You have to be realistic, As much as my mind says 'You can do this', The body is saying 'NO'.

When was I in my primary grades, I participated in Tae Kwan Do. Practiced it for like 5 years, when I started my 9th grade then left it completely. I went on till purple belt. It was fun, tiring, relaxing and hard at the same time.

I too practiced Tae Kwon Do. Went to 1st Dan. I did learn early on that although I was fairly quick I was nowhere near as fast as the 18 & 20-year-olds. After a few tournaments as a competitor, I became a referee. That suited my age much better.

Yeah, of course, if you start a sport with no background whatsoever it's going to be hard for you, but not impossible. It might take you more time to run 3 km with no pause than it takes a 16 yr old, but you'll get there.
And Martial arts are great for so many aspects of self development: physical strength, physical control, endurance, self-control, discipline, ambition and so on.
I've been doing Kickboxing for 3 months or so and the results are great already.
