Taking another swipe at my job search site. JobOptimist.com Mostly I want to know if it's: 1. Easy to navigate 2. Trustworthy 3. Brings up relevant searches. Thanks. PS I do realize the HTML/CSS isn't where it needs to be. I mainly want an input reg. the three points up there.
site name looks fuzzy and low quality add some rewrite rules to your links so you don't have this: http://joboptimist.com/index.php?page=1&submit=true&job=Medical+Health I find the white text on these images a bit hard to read - maybe make the image a bit more opaque so the wording stands out?
Does the site logo looks fuzzy in Chrome? I've noticed that too, but only in Chrome, I mean the logo is quite large (this is the actual size): So, I am not sure how I can make it more crisp. Any ideas? Will get to changing the images right away. I agree, the font doesn't stand out. Does this look better: http://joboptimist.com/index.php?page=1&submit&job=Medical+Health or do you mean to have a rewrite rule to make it look something like http://joboptimist.com/medical_health.html ?
Logo - your logo gets shrunk by the browser because it's bigger than the display parameters. While that's ok for some situations for something that is permanent and on every page it's worth taking a minute or two to use a proper graphics program to shrink the image and the browser doesn't have to do anything but display it. and yep, I was meaning the second. In your database you probably have a id for the category "Medical Health" so you could make life really easy and have /cat-23/medical-health/ so all the rewrite needs to do is get the number from the second folder and call that up.
The problem with that is your images are not going to look sharp in retina displays. You'll have to use .svg images then. Honestly, on my cell phone, iPad, all other browsers the image looks sharp.
My comment is that the overall "black" motif of the home page is not an "optimistic" color to me. More funereal than optimistic. But that is just my feeling. I think that the design and graphics are fine, the messaging is good, etc., but it is not optimistic as the name implies.
LOL, that's a good one! You are totally right. I never looked at it that way. Check it out now (JobOptimist.com). You may need to refresh the browser for it to show the new colors.
For readability purposes, you could try the logo with a light shade of the blue as background and "Job" in white and "Optimist" in the dark blue. Or maybe the reverse. Note that I am not a pony-tailed, nose-ringed creative type. But with makeup, I could play one on TV.
Ok, I don't want to drag this forever. I believe I've finally found something that looks sharp(er) in all browsers and it's a more or less contemporary font (PaloAlto). I am going to stick with it. And since the first letters are capitalized it's clear what the name is. Dang it! I always pictured you with a pony tail.
What slogan would you guys choose? 1. It's time to love your job 1. A smarter way to find your perfect job 2. Get ahead of the crowd and find the job you love Currently, I have "It's time to love your job" https://joboptimist.com Maybe you have your own suggestions?
That's pretty good. How about "It's time to be optimistic about your next job" or "It's time to be optimistic about your next career move"
@qwikad.com I like the second slogan "A smarter way to find your perfect job". Also I want to add that your website looks interesting. I will definitely share the link with people.
