Hi! I'm new to this forum, and English isn't my native language, so please excuse me for any grammar mistake. I used to hire writers in 2011-2012 though Elance, I paid pretty well, and had great US writers. Back then I worked in a shared space full of people that born in the US and they helped me approve that the articles I received have high writing skills. Since then I didn't had the need for articles, but now the situation looks completely different. Everywhere I'm looking I only find "middlemen", they may be born in the US and has great writing skills, but they writers much less. The prices are drastically lower than before, but honestly, I don't find it worth it for real sites that targeting real visitors over crawlers. Any suggestion on how to contact writers directly and spot middlemen before I start working with them? Many thanks!
Technical articles about a specific home improvement niche, it requires topic research (and I can provide all the resources needed), not a common knowledge that I expect any writer to have. The target audience is in intermediate level, so there is no need to be a master in this field, and it doesn't require any reading (topic research) that is hard to understand if the writer will take the time and read it though. Again, from my experience with overseas writers, they do it too quickly, their article are not good enough, and their English skills aren't good enough. Also, I don't like to deal with middlemen because something always get lost in translation, and my guidelines or revision request always missing something at the end. So I'm trying to find a way to contact American writers directly. Any suggestions?
Take a look at the WAHM forum. That's Work At Home Moms. Got a feeling you might find some writers there that will fit your needs. If you'd like the address send me a PM.
Hi there, Try looking for US writers on Warrior Forum. You can definitely find some in there. Good luck!
The problem is, the value of writing on forums like this and other outlets has declined. You see people all over the place looking for $3 articles and in no one's right mind can anyone write a coherent article that brings traffic to a website for that much. There's plenty of great writers on here but they don't post anymore. I can't blame them. When most of the requests here are asking for $3 articles and demanding "high quality" content, it's no wonder so many people have been scared away. This is the first time I've visited the forum in months and the content section of the Marketplace is seriously disgusting. People who can barely write English are demanding high quality content in English for less than a penny per word. A penny per word wasn't acceptable a decade ago.
Can't disagree with you coreygeer. Doesn't that come from the fact that most of the ones who're looking for writers that cheap are from countries where incomes are low?
I agree, it's hard to find good writers. Even on Upwork (can't stand them) I hired a guy who is in the US & his writing was subpar & no I wasn't paying $3. Right now I'm looking for a sales copywriter who can write emotionally & do the research which EVERY real writer should do. The problem is & always have been that the ENTIRE Internet lies about their skills. All the way from writers, editors, graphic web designers, website coders, researchers, bookkeepers, etc. Most don't know what they are doing & yet they peddle their services online. You only find out after you've wasted tons of time & energy & money that the product was subpar. Good luck, I feel for you Mickey.
A lot of companies advertise for writers on job boards, i.e. Indeed, They state what they're looking for, what's expected and qualifications to get the kind of writers they want/need. Sometimes they mention the pay, other times they ask the writer what they would charge and sometimes it's not mentioned at all.
I don't go based on kws, I go based on the topic. I don't tolerate kw stuffing. Well Indeed is usually for full time or even part time positions for employees. I am only looking for a freelancer & someone I can call upon whenever I have the funds to do more work. So that won't help, but thanks
Like others said, there are some here interested in writing, but more than likely, they'll be either looking for clients on their own, or they'll be in a content mill where the content quality is a gamble. Depending on what kind of writing you're looking for, I may be interested as well.
Various different topics, but any good copywriter can write about ANY topic. If they can't, then they aren't a real writer. In this case it's for a service for an internet gateway.
Yeh I don't want to have to do THAT much work just to hire a writer. I just can't believe there's no sites that gear towards writing. I've even found sites that provide writing services, but they do NOT let you talk to the writers prior to hiring them, or even see writing samples. I would NEVER hire a writer before reading their work. Anyone who does doesn't know what they are doing as an entrepreneur. And I joined FB groups, that didn't get me anywhere, I joined LinkedIn groups, also was a bust. So yes, I have tried.
Hi, I can relate to what you are saying. I have been a freelance web content specialist for 12 years and it has been my experience that the ones I contact that post jobs with a low rate of pay are mostly from other countries. If you are looking for a write feel free to contact me and I will provide you with the link to my portfolio.
Actually I disagree, the rate of pay is irrelevant online. I've had freelancers (in all skill sets) who charge a lot of money & are terrible at their job. What's hard is finding people who don't lie & actually know they are skilled. Everyone & their brother & sister thinks they know what they are doing. It used to be just so called "web designers" who lied, now, IMO, it's everyone. I'm different than most people, I never say I can do something unless I REALLY can & even then I wouldn't call myself an expert unless I know I REALLY am. Anyone who is a copywriter (mainly sales, but emotional writing, not hard core) please PM me with your portfolio & pricing. I'm on a tight budget, but we'll see what we can do. Thanks & have a great weekend.
