Is this a penalty?

Hi last few days i believe there was an algorithm update on google?
Anybody agree, i would like to hear your opinion

Well suddenly we lost almost all our rankings plus in our domain search
it does not appear our main home page but some other internal pages

The only thing we did in the last 10 days we add 30-40 backlinks from another forum
(signature backlinks)

If we suppose that is the problem for loosing rankings if we remove the backlinks will the website come to its previous rankings?

Any idea on what to do would be appreciated

We looked in to the search console and nothing seems wrong there

I heard from my colleagues that Google released an update called Fred which impacts across the SEO community.
I don't think that 30-40 backlinks affects you. Anyway those backlinks comes from a reputed website like digital point.

Did you linked to the domain URL alone in the signature?
Removing those doesn't help you instantly. Just wait one more week. My suggestion is to stop the SEO or link building activities for one more week. If possible add some fresh content alone in the website.

 

Could be negative SEO. Nowadays competitors really want to destroy your site...
Have had many cases where I saw porn backlinks etc pointing to my URL. Please check your webmaster tools and disavow bad backlinks. Although this process of removing takes couple of weeks, its worth trying.

 

I think that google has been has a new update, make your site of your link not bad link. How you like a new time you should update your new content and improve content
