The best way is content interlinking and siloing your website. you should stay away from the thin content. Be sure your content is audible and worth for your target audience.

What's your site? There are so many things that can contribute to a high bounce rate: a slow loading site, pop-ups, crappy content, misleading content, awful design, and so on.

Ways to decrease the bounce rate
    1. Know your targeted audiences and give them what they are really expecting/want/need. For example, I like pizza but I dont need now... So if you're offering pizza to me, then I will move off.
    2. Increase website speed with the help of tools like Google developer page speed insights, Tools pingdom, Gtmetrix. They will provide all the suggestions to improve the website loading time.
    3. Design the content rather than the website. It makes the user to stay in the website for long time. Of course, it the content should meet the user expectations.
    4. No too much of popups, unnecessary navigations
    5. Add some useful videos, forum, blogs any type of useful content will reduce the bounce rate.

I agree with qwikad. There are also cases your bounce rate is high because your traffic found what they are looking for in a single page...but most of the time that's not the case.

So... it would really help if you show us your site so that we could help you further. Thanks!

    1. Choose the right keywords to match your content — not just to attract the most number of visitors.

    2. Create multiple landing pages with unique content and keywords for your different buyer personas.

    3. Write attractive, useful meta descriptions for search engine users.

    4. Use stylish copy and images.

    5. Make your content error-free.

    6. Include a clear call-to-action and obvious links to next steps.

    7. Websites can still be effective as long as content can be accessed and used from a mobile device or tablet. Mobile user friendly content

    8. Give visitors all the information they may need

    9. Avoid huge pop-ups and annoying ads

    10. Do not use pagination.

    11. Make your 404 page interesting, fun and useful

    12. External links open in new window,Check that your external links work.

    13. Writing useful meta-descriptions for search engine users.

A high bounce rate generally indicates that site entrance pages aren’t relevant to your visitors query.Create landing pages which satisfy visitor’s query, If you are getting the right traffic but your landing page doesn’t satisfy the visitor’s query then the website visitors are going to bounce the moment they arrive on your website.

The #5 advice by Metricbuzz is the best one.

Add a video to your page!

People love visual components. However, appealing pictures often doesn't have much content to offer, so you can't hook new visitors to your site. Quite the contrary with the video. There's no other way to present information more appealing to the Human Eye than with a video. Have fun! :)

Everyone gives good advice.. I want to add that the traffic source is as important as the 'interested user' and the landing page.
Some traffic sources like pop unders, ppv, etc will have high bounce rate even if the visitor is from your target audience.
In my experience email traffic (from targeted subscribers) has the lowest bounce rate.

Also the bounce rate is lower on pages where you have a lot of visible internal linking to similar materials. But have in mind that this will decrease offer conversions (if you have an offer)

    Very well said, Benefita.

A SEO expert once told me, that SEO isn't about getting as many people to your website as possible. It's about not getting the wrong people to get to your website. Or something like that.

Good traffic will also increase your rankings, because you'll get a higher CTR, a lower bounce rate, a longer session duration, more conversions, etc.

I think that the bounce rate has much relation with the quality of your content. Then you need to review again almost your articles on the website and find out which exit page that you have a lot of drop traffic, try to optimize some and I think you will get the better rate.

    Good luck to you,

If your web page does not have the catchy information then the Bounce rate is increased.
So create some good images, videos, and Quality content to your web page so that the audience can engage towards your webpage.

    Hi,
To decrease bounce rate, you need to use multi-media content on page/website.
