one of my websites is doing pretttyyy well on google and yahoo. right now, i have a tabular layout - i'm converting it to css, and adding more information (tags, more content on each page, etc). i was wondering if changing the layout will make a big different on the SERs?
Its something you won't know until you've tried it out. The only problem is the impact - positve or negative - will vary from site to site. I too am in a similar position as I am converting one of the sites into cms, i would like to know peoples experiences.
I don't have personal experience with these things, but I've heard that using css for your site makes it easier for bots to read your content. Thus, theoretically, you should rank higher for your keywords, and get more specific ads. However, as said before, you only know it once you tried it.
well, changing the lay out of course can affect your earning, either, that will improve or go down. it's really depens on your new layout, is it really blend with the ads or not
yes, that's true. but i'm more concerned about the layout, the change in code... it won't be the site that is cached by the search engines right now, it'll be completely different code! one thing though: i have had this domain for 3-4 years now and uptil a month ago i was running a wordpress blog on it (which was totally dead, i didn't have time to write). it only came up when you searched my name or something. now i've put up a site on it, and the content is being updated by myself and friends every day. within 20 days, the site is showing up amongst google and yahoo results. so it's definitely the aging of the domain that mattered here. but also, i changed the layout completely - from wordpress to a custom coded script. SER went up because of the content. now i want to change the design to blend in the ads better and to make use of 100% width... really need to hear from someone's experience how this would affect my newly resurrected site
