Alexa rank for directories

    Hello
    Could you please explain me why directories have so high Alexa rank comparing to non-directory sites ? Do they have so much traffic ? I don't think so...

    Most people with the Alexa toolbar downloaded are webmasters and SEOs. These people are far more likely to visit directories, in order to submit their sites.

    Yep, the rankings get totally skewed by this. How many non-webmasters actually know or care about Alexa rankings? Probably 0.

    Ha, after 3 months or so i decide to go to alexa to see whats been happening to my directory site and wow rank is 362,861 lol pretty low huh ?? Well its all about the magical alexa toolbar :)

    Ive always considered alexa a tool that counts how many webmasters visit your site :p

    What's strange with high ALEXA rank?
    My LinkForever .net directory has about 43.000 rank and it's preety high result for PR4 directory.
    But when I look at the traffic stats and compare to real traffic I see it should be even higher...

    This is due to the fact that alexa toolbar can be only integrated with interent explorer(that it is it can be inserted as plugin only for internet explorer )

    and also since some of the visitors use mozilla firefox you may lose statistics on them

    i think alexa have interesting algorithm. one of my sites has 1500+ unique traffic daily but only 350k alexa rank also my directory has 250+ unque daily and now its 95k alexa.
