Niche directories, other niche sites/search engines are the only low cost methods left. The web, over the years got abused by so many that the site publishers who sell ad space, shut everyone out by charging fees and/or using content management systems that automatically freeze submissions, so they won't appear at all, until payment is made - totally shutting down/blocking freeloaders, so the ease of getting free backlinks is almost impossible these days. Its just a matter of time until freeloaders get the message... if they haven't already, they will. and every decent directory publisher knows this and will automatically shut you down, kick you out, block you, delete you or even take revenge against all spammers. Welcome to the age of technology plugins.....
I 've few doubts working within my head on web directory entry, would you believe it's nevertheless a legitimate exercise in link building?
As a professional publisher for 12 years, and owned everything from directories, article banks, blogs and now a search engine - I say that links must pass traffic to clients and be targeted to be of use these days. Years ago it was probably enough to have any link pointing to your site, but not now as its all about relevance and conversion for websites. If directories are targeted resources, then yes, they can be great for sales conversion. Its a case of scouting the web to find these websites, and perhaps the laziness creeps in and this is why so many start-up/early stage companies don't see the revenue. Its very sad that everyone seems to want the world for free, but free is an illusion and doesn't exist that leads to any major reward.
I agree with the above response that we need to look into new strategies like Social media marketing and PPC.
Social media really is not effective if you do not have mass followers, and if you are not skilled with FB/PPC, then you will just go broke....
Make Directory Submission more effective? How? Write unique and different content to each and every single directory website. If you done 10 directory submissions then write 10 unique descriptions for each directory website.
We'll go to social media marketing strategies with complete knowledge and having awareness on happening things and i saw the progress with professional methods that are taken by us
Earlier there were authority directories like Dmoz and others. And listing your website to those directories was really useful in terms of SEO. But the situation have changed drastically since then. And directory submission has became an obsolete technique now. However local and global business directories are still good to give you leads as well as SEO benefits.
No. Don't even bother. Especially don't pay for it. And if it's free, it's an even bigger waste. It could actually hurt you, as far as Google goes. Directories = waste of time
Directories COULD be beneficial if done right. It is FAR easier to screw up using directories and sites that are similar. As others have said, there are plenty of other things that you could incorporate instead that would work better. I would recommend looking for other blogs in your niche to see if you could guest post (just ONE idea for marketing-don't hate me). Anything outside of your niche might hurt you (and you also get a chance to network which could be a way for someone to outsource some work to you!).
There is some value, It's just picking the right ones over time to use that's best for your Business and or website, It's all part of link building. Best Regards
It helps you in link building and good PR web directories can help you in ranking better. We should expect relevant traffic from web directories now.
