Hi, I just wanted some info about proxy websites. I was wondering to make or buy one. How much it will cost to buy an established one? Are they legit to use? Wont I get banned from adsense? Can I host them in shared hosting servers? As I dont have money to buy a VPS. Thanks in advance for answering those questions.
This thread will provide the answers to those questions: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=153779
Honestly, you probably wont be able to start (a nice one) or buy one for under $30 (Im assuming thats all you have because you say you cant pay for a VPS). Heres some scripts to get you going: http://www.jmarshall.com/tools/cgiproxy/ Also try: http://www.hotscripts.com As for the hosting, it really depends on the host. Just ask them before installing the script, because a lot of hosts do not allow them. Yes, you cannot display adsense on the results / browse page.
Traffic just seemed to roll in on my first proxy i was getting around 2000 uniques a day within the first week, all coming from iranian and arabic blogs. no myspace traffic.
Wow 2000 uniques in the first week. And how come arabics and iranis also use proxy sites. I think govt blocked porn sites in those countries so they are using proxies.
I suggest you start with a cheap hosting service($6-$10) to try out your template and script. If thing seems to pick up (or you're kick out by your hosting provider) get a VPS (1-2 hours setup, $15-$30). If it really popular (or you're kick out again because of high resource usage) get a dedicated server (1 - 6 days setup, $60-$200). You must make sure your user have a great time using your proxy, no excessive ads and fast response. Always watch your bandwidth usage.
Also be sure to read my guide until jacob adds it into his. They are both very helpful. All the questions that have been asked in this thread are answered in those two places.
