    Disavow tool allows publishers to tell that they don't want certain links external sites as part of counting link to rank websites. while some sites want to do this because they've purchased links.

    Simplified:

    1. Sign up with moz trial version and use open site explorer to check for spam backlinks
    2. It should generate some. accumulate them on a .txt file with "domain:spam-site-address" on each line.

    It should look like this on notepad:

    domain:spam-site-address-1
    domain:spam-site-address-2
    domain:spam-site-address-3

    3. submit the .txt file to google disavow tool: google.com/webmasters/tools/disavow-links-main?pli=1
