I think the commercials are quite lame. The sort of Windows system they describe is Windows98 and the system they describe can save your pictures and make movies, big deal! I doubt that they will gain market share with this sort of advertising and costly proprietary hardware.

I think Macs are mostly used by people who are willing to pay extra for a nice design.

I find it amusing that PC's are so boring but still retain 90% market share...
Poor Macs... Try to catch up before the end of the century :D

The fact that several of you still think that Mac's are (always) more costly than PC's tells me they need to mention that in their ads..
True, some Macs are pricey, but some are only $499 .. Kinda the same with PC's.. some are quite pricey, and some aren't ..
Even if they were more expensive, the fact that you dont have to constantly worry about spyware, virii, hacks, secuirty holes, etc, makes it worth it..

I did a quick check (pcmall.com and macmall.com) and there is still a clear difference in retail price (Apple does like a higher profit margin per PC).

Mac's are affected by an array of malware, worry or get protection. I run a number of PC's and use a number of free products for firewall, anti-virus, etc including Microsoft's Defender firewall.

There's nothing wrong with marketing a product as upscale and pricey, auto companies change the badges on their cars (think Honda > Acura, Toyota > Lexus) and load them up with options and sell them at luxury dealerships. You don't see Acura bashing Toyota for problems they've historically had with altenators. They just market them as a desirable luxury car. The "My Mac can make photo albums and you like C++ GUI design" commercials aren't going to persuade anybody.

I think Apple's sales numbers prove otherwise..

Dont get me wrong - a year or two ago i was as anti-Mac as they come.. I constantly preached "Mac's are for idiots that don't know how to use a real PC" ..
But then i got to thinking - who's the idiot? ME, always worrying about virii, spyware, etc, or the Mac users - using their Mac's to do what they want..

And FYI - there are a few varaties of Malware that affect the Mac, but the ratio of Mac to PC malware is something like 9,000,000 to 1 - There is no room for an argument here - Mac's are immune to ALL PC/Windows Spyware/Malware..

I've noticed that some PC lovers take the commercial personally.
    Relax, it's only a commercial.
