Has anyone done any research on this new service by google? For those who don't know what is google check out, it's something like paypal but from google. Well, I don't know much about it but many people have bad experiences with it. And not many sites support that. I am only interested to get an account because paypal only supports my country as a sent only members. Edit: But as I searced more I see that only if you have a US bank account you can have a google checkout account. Anyone knows how google check out works? I heard that its nothing like paypal which is an online "bank account" What are your views about this?
i think many sites will support google checout in future but i dont know any site which support google checkout
I don't think eBay is letting users use that as they are the competition. I could be wrong. (This is a cool forum)
It is available Internationally. You can check it http://checkout.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=48115
Whoa awesome, never knew it became internationally available until now, thanks for pointing that out guys! IT
I presume they were talking about merchants - last I checked it is only available to US (and maybe Canadian?) merchants. WHICH FRANKLY SUCKS! What about us Aussies
Haha, now that google checkout is out and world wide paypal realised that a strong competitor is coming up and they now made it world wide too. I have sent them an email of getting a receive and sent money account (not only send I used to have because of my country) and they told me that now my country Cyprus is fully supported. Thats great news. I really like competition between two companies.
Well, we will see what it happens with google checkout in the future. I dont think they will be able to compete with paypal. But I may be wrong
In a newer thread it's still only available in the US, with a US bank account and is in BETA. I don't think the above info is correct in case anyone is reading thsi thread past Dec 06.
Google Checkout is basically just a payment processor. I was able to pretty easily integrate with it as a merchant using Perl despite the fact they don't have any sample code in Perl. It will probably be widely used in the not so distant future.
