I want to customize the yellow highlighted text in screenshot for my 404.php template but that text doesn't appear currently on my 404 pages like this one: https://danscartoons.com/tooner and wonder how I can get that to show up on the published page. Does anyone know how? See screenshot. Thanks
I would have to crawl around there to see why its not printing but you can give this is a whirl if you have are not a huge fan of crawling around the code. Then you could just make one real fast and do whatever you want with it.... #lazy https://wordpress.org/plugins/404page/
thank you....I really really appreciate your taking the time to reply to me. One big caveat I forgot to mention (when it comes to WP)....I am avoiding plugins at ALL COSTS. I cannot stand them unless they are a absolute must. I mean, I have a half dozen installed now....it seems every other month they need to be updated etc. And I prefer going into the raw guts of the code (to actually learn). But appreciated your taking the time. If anyone has any ideas as to why that text is not appearing, let me know...it would be appreciated. I now realize WP has it's faults.....any insights would be appreciated - thanks!
If you would like to create a custom 404 page so you better have to follow this : https://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_an_Error_404_Page By the way, we can't get to your website in order to check the code source... so you have to fix this then we can help
Hi Themes4All: Can you explain what you mean exactly by "we can't get to your website in order to check the code source"....in essence, I previously showed a link to a sample 404 poage in my first initial post when I asked the question. Or do you mean you can't get to my main URL? It's in my signature link...please let me know
Yes this what i mean !! i can't get to your website because of this error : This site can’t provide a secure connection danscartoons.com uses an unsupported protocol. ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH
It looks like you're using CloudFlare SSL (SNI), but it appears to be installed correctly. You could create a custom 404 template in your theme as guidelined here: https://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_an_Error_404_Page
