Please go to the link in the post #52 in this thread.

Google still uses PageRank but they keep the information a secret from the public now. It wasn't updated to the public since the end of 2013, now all the PR checkers will show 0 for every domain, even the top sites around the world. Any that MIGHT be showing any PR are just showing historical PR.

Google still uses PR but they will not share it with people and keep it private. Google has kept the actual and current PR to themselves for a long time now.

Ok if you have a strong desire to nitpick, but the entire purpose of any PR discussion in 2016 is to explain to certain people that PR is as good as dead. That message needs to be loud and clear.

Pagerank itself is dead but the idea behind it isn't. Google is always going to measure the quality of a website in one way or another.

and the totally clueless continue to post in this thread
    1. PageRank is still used in the ranking algorithm and updated daily; it is just not exported
    2. DA and PA from MOZ are NOT used as a metric in the ranking algorithm by any search engine, so care to explain why we must use it?

If I want to "nitpick" as you say then I would say that you are completely wrong and that PageRank is not dead as has been proved. There is just no way for use outside of Google to know what it is.

If it was "as good as dead" then why does Google still use it? Just because we regular people have no way of knowing what it is, does not mean it's "as good as dead". ;)

PageRank is dead. And the world has changed -- at least when it comes to search engine optimization (SEO), scoring and optimization.

How is it dead if Google still uses it? Dead would mean it's gone and is not in use any more, but it is being used by Google internally.

It's just not visible to the public any more. ;)

What a load of total horse manure!
Google give no weight what-so-ever to the Alexa rank!! - total bullshit you spouting there.
As for giving no importance to pagerank ... it still uses page rank internally in the ranking algorithm; it just does not export that value any more to amuse us.

You're right when you say we don't have to use DA and PA.

However, I have found that keywords being ranked by low PA pages (DA doesn't matter as much) are 10x easier to beat than pages with high PA.

The Page Authority is a pretty decent indicator of a pages 'power' in the serps.

I haven't paid attention to pagerank in quite some time. But I do focus on gaining backlinks to my website from popular social networks, which usually have a pagerank anyways. These days though, I wouldn't get consumed with worrying about your pagerank though.

Google still update PR every day and factor it into the ranking algorithm every day. They just stopped exporting it.

As PA and DA are metrics that NO search engine use in their ranking algorithm, why focus on them? They count for nothing.

Yep, notice the title: "toolbar pagerank is dead"... ie they just do not export it any more. They still use it.

Totally clueless post. They very confused what DA is and how its calculated. (eg age is not used by MOZ in the DA calculations). However, nowhere in their did they say any search engines uses the DA metric (at least they got that bit right)
