I am looking for suggestions on computer security systems, what do you use? I want a program that will prevent anything from getting on my computer without my permission and vise versa.

I also don't want software that is going to turn my computer into Fort Knox where even I can't get anything off it.

    All suggestions are very welcome...

You're asking for quite a bit in today's internet reality. It seems that with more protections come less maneuverability when it comes to the software you need.

I really like AVG antivirus. I've used it for two years. Runs lightly and is free. I also have a hardware firewall in my router I think. I've never used a tool specifically designed to remove spyware and I dont think Ive had any problems.

Zone Alarm is for people who want to absolutely safe and want to take no risks whatsoever. It could annoy you to no end if you are a casual web surfer though.

So... Ewido or Kerio for me

AVG or AVAST (for anti virus), then you need, Spybot Search & Destroy, Ad-Aware SE, Ewido Security Suite and maybe McAfee's "Stinger" for finding the Spyware/Trojans... Those are all free and should keep you safe... Install them, then get updates and run them... Online scanners like Trend Micro's "Housecall" and Panda's online scanner are also good to use...

you can find links to them and other utilities here:

I know i'll probably get flamed and bashed for saying this, but I use an iMac and i dont even have to think about such issues.. I am free to use my computer to do the things I want to do - instead of constantly worrying about updating this, patching that, blocking this or not clicking that, etc..

I use Avast AV, Comodo Firewall and Ad-Aware all free.

If you can pay then consider:
    NOD32 AV, Zone Alarm Firewall

In my experience, you won't find a better free AV then http://free-av.com/

Even if you buy it for the 25EU, it's a good deal.

Been there done that and got the tee shirt on all the other garbage.
