For an experiment, I added a link to my collectibles website to a collectibles article. Someone visited my website and then the link was quickly removed (elitist snobs). Are there editors for each of the articles on Wikipedia?
What if the link is relevant? If the articles are meant to be edited by anybody, do they have a special right to remove a relevant link? Or do they remove it because they don't want anybody else encrouching on their links?
i have a site hat has accumulated about 5-6 wikipedia links....all pr6. All links have been added by other people too
NO, if the link is related and non-business and informative. they wouldn't like do that! but all have different taste!
sorry, but what kind of people, are they link Dmoz editors? I have same problem, I added link to my site (Christian Content) and the site has no profit at all, even adsense, but one week later, it was removed
I've had this problem before with one site. When I questioned them about the link removal, they said that they didn't like links added by people that submitted no content. So I added to the existing content and created a page relevant to my sites subject with my link on it. This link has never been touched, so it pays to add a little content with your link.
Its like dmoz the rules are left open to interpation by the editors and it causes a lot of problems. Basically add link inside content and pray that some editor doesnt see it for a while.
the wiki is messed up. you can add a link to relevant section then seconds later some loser that is watching the wiki page in his underwear will remove it. I don't waste my time with the wiki, there are many other places to get quality links.
Wikipedia isn't ment to be a link dump. It's not a directory! Do you really think there should be a link to every ringtone website on the page about cell phones? It's an encyclopedia, for INFORMATIONAL purposes. The links are supposed to be the best of the web because it doesn't make sense to have too many links, especially from unreliable sources. You're the loser, not the Wikipedia editors protecting the encyclopedia.
I think they are flawed because they disallow commercial sites even if they have the best more relevant unique content. Being Commercial doesnt make you bad its what some commercial sites do. Also because certain editors allow links to there sites but disallow links to competitors. (Sounds like DMOZ to me)
Yes it it true that I added a link to my site on Web directories and it was removed the very next day
your the one calling someone a loser online ? if that isn't the pot calling the kettle black.. You have no clue what I'm talking about or seen. I know one page in particular that has 6 links on it and I have a site that should be on it, yet as you know anyone can edit it. so, Yes the wiki is messed up in that aspect, I don't have the time to watch over a page 24/7 to make sure my competition isn't deleting my link. directories, article sites, news feeds..I just seen today that I had a PR5 backlink on a feed that I didn't go after..
a link doesn't necessarily have to be non-commercial. i've seen quite a few linksthat are commercial sites, but relevant.
I think fairs fair, if you want to buy a permanent PR4 link it's gonna cost you $20 to $30, so convert this into what you consider your time to be worth, and write some nice content for wiki on a subject that you know about. This way wiki gains, you gain, everyone's happy
i agree...in wiki people can add up, edit and delete your article, anytime your article even if it's helpful might gone in just a few clicks by your competitors...
