Hey Guys I have a quick question for ya. Do you normally accept multiple submissions from the same domain if the listing is: 1. On a subdomain 2. Different subject/conent Or is it just 1 submission per domain period? Thanks for your help!
Most paid directories will accept deeplinks and subdomains. Most free directories will not accept them (due to massive spamming otherwise).
I have a "new" free directory and only accept I per submission. I haven't considered deep links because I don't fully understand the concept. Would someone explain exactly what deep linking is and the benefits of accepting them.
I accept subdomain listings and deeplinks. I do however check the deeplink content against the homepage content and consider which suits my directory best. I will occasionally edit the submission back to the main domain.
Deeplinking is when its not the top level domain. for example: http://www.site.com/arts/actors/genre/comedy (deep link internal page) as compared to : http://www.site.com/ (top level) the benefit is that you are able to submit your inner categories with hopes of gaining a deeper cawl for the SE's and possibly a better PR.
Thats the benefit to the site owner, what about the directory owner? Probably no benefit, no loss. Your directory looks more interesting because it has varied content compared to others. But what user checks multiple directories? So the bots may find the page more varied. That would be a good thing. You don't want them finding identical links out on this directory versus that. How much they consider that is a whole other question.
On the free directories I think /forums or /blog or /directory is looked at seriously but otherwise it's deleted real quick like. Of course if you pay...well... cash is king. I have a deep link directory however for free (for now) in my footer.
I guess I still haven't gotten my head around this. Deep linking is submitting multiple urls for the same site under mulitple subcategoreis right? For instance my ecommerce site "Big Bend Gift Shop" . When I submit it to directories I would submit it (home page url)to Shopping>Gifts. Deep linking would be if I submitted home page url Shopping>Gifts, URL to my page for home decore to Shopping>Home Decor, URL for toys to Shopping>Toys etc.
True infact mostly paid directories only accepts deep linking if you are submitting a featured link! Saad
Cash is king, but if its an affiliate I will send money back, I only accept straight urls. I dont like going to some deep link and finding junk, it seems that 99% of them are so I just dont bother. Easier.
I accept them, you gotta keep your customers happy. (Even though they will submit their link and never come back)
I was actually asking if you guys accept more than one submission per website. For instance, 2 diferent pages on the same website (assuming excellent quality content) that fit into 2 different areas in the directory.
I'd accept more than one link and deeplinks - but only one per category and there would have to be a significant difference between them all. For instance there are sites out there that serve two distinct businesses. Why, dunno, but there are. They'd warrant two links.
