Dear friends The main page of my website, the home page that is, will have very little text. Just three sentences describing the service. The users will then click on appropriate buttons on the page which will take them to form pages (where they fill out forms based on the service they want to receive). I won't use much text because it creates needless destractions (trust me I know my busiess, it does). My first question is: will it be hard to rank high on google search results becasue my site will have so little text? Even if I am offering a useful service and a lot of other sites are linking to my page? Second question: will having text-rich subpages (e.g. about us, FAQ, etc.) which will link back to the main page help my ranking? If yes, how much help would that be? Note 1: Our sector is waste management Note 2: Please, make no suggestions like "put lots of original, quality text on main page" etc. I will if I have to but, for now I want to know if I can have a very simple/brief home page and still rank high on google. Thank you so much! Best! R.
Rumata, why not just give it a try exactly as you have planned and designed it? If you are correct and a lot of other sites do link to your home page, you will probably rank reasonably well (Google does still value good links highly). At the worst, once your website is live online, you can simply edit the home page to add some more content if you find it is not ranking well. As the old saying goes, "nothing ventured, nothing gained."
1. - Google doesn't care that you are offering quality service. Algorithm can't check that. And yes, the amount of content is important. There are studies about that and I even did my own. The more content, the better. At around 2000 words however, the effects aren't that significant. So definitely add some content, at least 500 words, otherwise you will have to spend more money on links. With only 3 sentences, google has no idea what your site is about. Except the anchor texts and titles maybe, so consider that as well. 2. - Oh yes, it will help. The size of the website is also quite important factor. And DEFINITELY link back to your homepage. The power of internal links can be tremendous.
Exatly, they don't care, they are working by their algorithm, they look for quantity not quality,I mean google is retarded definetaly but no one can change that.
They don't look for quantity lol, they are retarded I can agree on that one but they look for lot of things not only quantity.
1) Yes, Google definitely and strongly does care if you are offering quality web content. 2) And yes, Google's ongoing updates of their algorithms are getting better and better at determining what is quality content.
