Is Hostgator the best webhosting company?

I am looking for a website hosting company for WordPress website, is Hostgator is good? Why do they ask for government ID card? What is your experience with them? Is there another cheap hosting for small page website (for my business ID card)?

 

Hostgator plans are good but support little down side, if you don't require support staff help than its good for you else don't think about it.

 

Why not try in your country area. I've find good company hosting in my country, also top notch support with cheap price also.. You should trying

 

Hostgator has some serious support issues so I am not a great fan of them anymore after the EIG purchase infact since then I have move to some better provider with good support and better uptime than them .. I can sure ask you to try and contact them incase you are still search for a better and cheap provider you can try Rshosting or WebhostingUK.Com
Both are pretty good provider for wordpress hosting.

 

I'd do more research before going with them or any company that is owned by EIG. There are *far better* providers out there with better price, support and service.

In truth, they are trending for bad support for quite a while (since EIG bought them)

If you are looking for hosting for a WordPress site, look for a provider who offers Malware protection, protection for IP blacklisting, CloudLinux and more I/O.

Hostgator are not as good as they used to be i guess.

I have been using host gator for years, only due to their tech support. When I have had an issue it has been resolved quickly.

 

Are you still using them? since they have been sold to EIG we got tons of client having issue with their new datacenter and looking for a free transfers asap.

 

I still am, oldest package is over 10 years old there. I get treated good and never had an issue with tech support that was not self induced. Misreading what TS wrote can make issues worse I discovered, lol.

2. 99.9 % server uptime.
3.there response time within 10 minutes
email,ticket support,livechat[ 10 sec]
4. reliable server
5. server location is near to your client location or you [because latency decrease and server load time also decrease]
and your website load fast otherwise you need cdn technology[cloudflare,maxcdn]
6. in shared hosting they provide latest cpanel

and if you have any doubt with web hosting provider ask for trail there control panel or test with there monthly plans rather than yearly.

 

It is not the best but one of the best and reliable web hosting company.

 

To op, the best provider is the one who suits you the best, try different ones, always go monthly when you can so you can save money.
Asking for the best hosting provider is asking what is the best cars, eveyone will have it's preferences.

 

No. HostGator is not a good host. Run away! (not kidding)

Seriously though, if you just want cheap hosting, SiteGround is the least bad out of cheap hosts, and is actually good if you go with their $7.95/mo plan. I've heard good things about DreamHost, but SiteGround is faster in the testing I've done for my clients.

 

I worked at HostGator a few years ago, back went Brent Oxley was in charge (he hired me actually) it was waaaay different than it is now. He was a good guy and gave a great culture to the office, we were able to help people and were asked to do so the right way. Since EIG bought it for $225 million it has gone through several changes. I actually remember before selling it he had a team setup to build a new chat and billing system (which looks like it's working now), it just sad that it's no longer a place with passion and just a money maker.

 

Hostgator is owned by EIG - a quick Google will show you how awful they are. I'd definitely head in the opposite direction! What location do you want your site in, and what is your budget - maybe we can recommend someone else?

Hostgator is just plain cheap, their support is just below average but it's compensated with its lower price tag. If your website is for money making my comment is to look for other hosting company such as bluehost or hostnine. that's my 2c

There is no single 'best' web hosting provider. What's best for you might not be best for someone else. It all depends upon your needs and the kind of work you require. There are a lot of hosting companies out there so I expect you might have to do a little research to find what fits best for you.
