Help me to select a domain name

Hello friends,
I want to start an online shop in my city (India).

I have two option for domain name.

1. mycity.in
2. shopcity.com

where city stands for name of my city.
Which of the two would be better.

Let's say your city name is "mumbai"

mymumbai.in - Doesn't make much sense for me
shopmumbai.com - My concerns would be:
Is the domain available for register ?
Doesn't it sound hard to remember?
It doesn't contain the county extension (in)

My suggestion would be shopmumbai.in

of course, if it was me, i will register both, because once you become popular enough some bad guys out there will register the other domain name and try to steal some traffic from you. Or he may open a same site like yours with the other domain name and terrify you

 

It would be better if you will use your company name. Using a city will just confuse your readers. try to build your brand as early as possible.

 

go with shopcity.in it is give you better performance for your store.

 

preferably if you go with your local parameters like your local ppl search than that will give you more boost up than any other. In my view shopcity.in will value much more for you.

I think you should buy all if both are still available. However if you focus on your city locally then choose the .in for the main and .com for worldwide version. I think so.

 

.com is good if your targeting audience from world wide.
country code extension would be good if your targeting local audience.

if you want to target Mumbai are perticuallary go for the mycity.in, i remember in google webmaster tool, there are some options to further tweak/setup your geo target.

 

shopCity.tld would be better in my opinion. It is grammatically correct, and is a common domain name phrase.

 

I would suggest shopcity.com.

 

I would develop on .com and also buy the .in for brand protection and simply forward to your website, may receive some type in traffic that way too

 

Choose shopmumbai.in its good domain for your website!
