There is little activity on these Forums especially in BST section where few things come up for sale each week or little trade activity. Unlinke old days 4-5 years back when every 1 hour a website will come up for sale. I think the owner has decided to sink the forum?
Not sure how much would be involved technically speaking but perhaps it could be time for an experiment? Let us drop the establishment criteria say to 2 likes or even 1 for a spell. Let us see if by doing this things pick up a bit. Or maybe new members get a free pass from being established for a short period. What I'm advocating is that they are allowed to post anywhere for 2 weeks. Then after the 2 week trial period it goes back to the 3 like system. Chances are by the 2 weeks they might already have their 3 likes. I believe it might be time to entertain the notion that things may need to be a bit easier to join in the establishment club. Yes this would create more spamming, but it might also save the site from a slow death.
As I understand it, there is quite a bit of rules in place on this forum, mostly to avoid scammers and spammers. Which is all well and good, but perhaps it also takes away a bit of the "spur-of-the-moment" users. Which might not provide continued content all the time, but might provide some needed "new life". I like the above suggestion - maybe together with a bit of a harder moderation (ie, if you're on this pre-established / trial period, you have next to no lenience before you're severly warned and/or kicked).
The end of last week and the beginning of this week have been slow everywhere, period. My twitter, G+, sites, everything is slow(er). It will pick up, of course, but I don't think anyone should expect much of the end of July (it's vacation time!). Even internet marketers need a break from time to time.
So are the problems. We've probably lost traffic because it is harder to: sell a domain you don't own pretend to do a money exchange spam your affiliate link stuff cookies into links around images - hidden or visible, often looking like an emoticon give away regurgitated lists typed in 100pt fonts masquerading as ebooks loaded with affiliate links trade links and get a SERP benefit I'm not sad to see any of those go - and we were kept busy by that kind of thing. We still have problems with fraud, like getting people in Country A to verify accounts (affiliate, advertising) for people in Country B - but we're getting there.
Actually not really. Someone sent me link to one forum somewhere in Ukrainian city, not even capital https://www.kharkovforum.com/ As of right now 5 PM Central time or 2 AM in that city, this forum has Total: 1492 (392 Members: и 1100 guests) Discussions: 523,058, Messages: 24,546,830, Members: 647,284, Аctive: 33,184 compare to DP Discussions: 2,314,029, Messages: 17,385,754 Members: 795,851 Total: 1,279 (members: 42, guests: 1,132, robots: 105) I'm sure 10 - 12 hours from now that forum will have 1,500 users fastreplies
Go to any forum admin forum. Heaps of threads and dicussions on the decline in forum activity. However, my n=1 forum; activity is about 50% of what it was a few yrs ago; but but but but, traffic etc is the same, so same number viewing, but less posting.
In general this is the case, forums on decline but... there is big difference between natural cause and self-inflicted harm. Case study: Warrior popularity, which 5 years ago was almost the same as DP still going strong and yet DP went down and 50 active users in DP and 564 members and 8975 guests at 6 PM in W. is the best proof W. management is doing something right. The question is: why shit happened to DP and if Shawn could avoid it from happening? fastreplies
If I had a forum that, by some estimates, was worth 15 - 20 mil. why the hell would I worry what other forums were like? Some of them may seem busy but they are not nearly in the same ballpark.
All sites use a different measurement of "current users". Some sites base it on activity in the last 60 seconds, some 5 minutes, some 24 hours, some a week, etc... so you are comparing apples to oranges. If I made this website have a huge "current activity" window, the only person it fools are the idiots. Either way, unless you have access to both site's Analytics, you are comparing two unlike things. Quantcast tends to be one of the better sites that at least can take a educated guess at the traffic of a site. And guess what? Warrior Forum doesn't get enough traffic to for it to even make a guess. https://www.quantcast.com/digitalpoint.com https://www.quantcast.com/warriorforum.com Warrior Forum primarily revolves around selling people snake oil who don't know any better. If you wanted to try to make your site more appealing to the users you are targeting (the ones easily fooled), you would probably make a huge activity window. Because by golly, if they say they have 50,000 users on their site right now, it must be true, right? lol
Yep, just means they don't know for sure because the site doesn't feed analytics data to them. But the more traffic a site gets, the better it can make an accurate educated guess for. For example Google isn't "quantified" either, but it can make a pretty accurate guess that they get about 220.9M people in the US use Google in a single month. https://www.quantcast.com/google.com Personally I'd think it was higher, but I suppose it could be that ballpark of 70% of US people use Google. Like my 6 year old niece and by grandma probably don't use Google. Far lower than whatever Warrior Forum's is I suspect. Digital Point isn't in the business of trying to sell ignorant people fake get rich quick schemes. So there's no reason for us to try to skew our stats so ignorant people can tell their ignorant friends how much traffic we get. lol If I was going to alter it at all, I'd just remove that block from the sidebar. Really serves no useful purpose really. I have far more accurate analytics for our site, which is what is important to me.
You didn't answer my question. Regardless, I don't care what Warrior does and proof of that, I haven't posting in there since beginning of May (note to myself: do I care if W. or DP ban me?... Nah) but what i can see is hourly attendance fluctuation in W. and that Ukrainian forums. I also noticed amount of posts in topical forums in W. and DP like SEO for example, whereas W. have posts made every 3 - 5 minutes and DP have posts made a week ago still on page #1 or Directory Forum have my posts made around July 14 still on the top, as I recall 5 years ago they would be gone to page #2 in no time. Yesterday I made post in Politics forum... 180 views and not even one post? Really? fastreplies
Does Warrior Forum even have a directory forum? I feel like you are comparing activity in a subsection here that really is just there for legacy purposes to the activity on another site that doesn't even have a similar section. lol 5 years ago, directories were at least marginally useful... which is why there would have been more activity than there is today. Same could be said about a development forum helping people with WAP development. Really not relevant or useful in anyway any longer. The times change. Either way, we are not trying to be Warrior Forum or base anything we do on what they do (or don't) do. Bottom line is if you prefer Warrior Forum, use it. Right now, I just see you complaining that some other site is better, but it's still not good enough for you to go there... instead you still come here for some reason. lol
A directory is a site you use to find sites you are looking for on the Internet. At least that's what they were before Google. As an example, instead of using Google to find something on the Internet, try going to dmoz.org and finding whatever it is you are looking for.
The BST activity is low because we get only cheap buyer in my case @jaguar34 wanted to buy my one website which is online since Feb 2015 was earning $70 to $60 per month, for only $150 or $180 not only @jaguar34 but also there was too many people come to buy site for a cheap price but after listing that site on flippa I have successfully sold that website for $550. Now just tell me why should I list my website here for sale ? https://flippa.com/5419880-appsapkapp-com
