Dormant accounts

I quit using AdSense and, who knows, maybe will never use it again. Still I'd like to keep my account. Is there a time frame when an account is considered dormant and is disabled because of that?

I stopped using Adsense about 7 years ago and I just logged into my Adsense account the other day. I still have accrued commissions, but less than the $100 payout threshold. So I don't think you will have to worry.

Thank you, really appreciate that. I kind of thought that that was the case. The only reason I asked is that a while back I signed up for some affiliate program, but then never used it. A few months later I got an email from them telling me that because my account was inactive they cancelled my membership with them. I was like: Are you serious? I guess that's what they do with all inactive accounts.

Some might do that. Culling inactive accounts is something a lot of businesses do from time to time. And perhaps some of those inactive affiliates got those emails and contacted the affiliate asking to be reinstated and started advertising it. Those affiliates want people to drive sales, not be inactive.

Adsense culled 1000's of inactive accounts a week ago. If there was <$10 in it, that was lost.

Wasn't it a bug of some sort though? I read that it was not intentional. But maybe it was something else. I read that their system accidentally canceled 1000's of account, but not inactive accounts necessarily.

It wasn't a bug and it was intentional. It wasn't an accident.

Google posted this after the email was sent:

Perhaps my account is not as inactive as I thought. I had 1 click a few weeks ago for $0.69. Not sure what it is on. But that was my first click in over 2 years.

My best guess it that they maybe missed you in that recent sweep. Personally I would not expect to keep an account if it adds no value to the ecosystem.
