    Hello guys,

I'm planning a major restructuring of my website. I mean it will look nothing like it's old version. Most of the text will remain almost same though.

My concern is that, if I do a lot of work for couple of months to get my website ranked high in search results and then make big changes on website and all of a sudden I have to start from zero.

Sorry, I am not very informed on this topic. Would very much appreciate your help.

    Thank you!
    R.

Provided the URLs for the pages stay the same the link juice will remain and it should not cause any problems.

If you are changing content you may change your keyword density by accident and that could have an effect.

You also have to consider the internal link structure.

Well, you are going to change it for better right? In that case you will definitely have impact on SERP. Even without changes the SERP fluctuates daily. We at our agency use SERP tracking tools and even on web sites that aren't updates often there are ups and downs almost daily.

With that said, focus on the following checklist and you will for sure improve your SERPs:

    - Implement Responsive Design
    - SSL certificate (they are cheap now, we sell them for around 20€/Year)
    - Optimize for Google Pagespeed Score of at least 85
    - Use automatic smart rewriting for old links not found (for instance, if your old link was mydomain.com/product-hair-shampoo and the new one is mydomain.com/hair-shampoo, there are plugins that detect and make auto permanent redirects)
    - Update new sitemap and submit to Google using Search Console
    - Do a keyword research and planing, competition research and trends and make a project for which keywords you are targeting (assuming you're selling a product or service, if it's a news blog the approach is a bit different)
    - Implement content SEO based on previous point

Follow these tips and you should easily improve your SEO score and SERPs. If you need any assistance please contact me ;)
