I created a dating site a few months ago, and got few traffic as so far. I wondered how can I get some users as soon as possible by free means. Social media? I tried to have on own account on fb, tw, g+, etc, but it seems not very fruitful. Any tips?
The Dating niche is so over catered for, I wonder how you thought you were going to get traction? Are you offering something completely different to matchup, tinder and all the well established sites? Have you got an app because if I can't access your site easily on my phone it's not going to happen (well, not me, but I know how my single friends operate) Why would people come to your site? Before we start sending you off to promote your site we need to be confident that it's got a hope in hell of making it.
Yeah, I think you have come to this particular table very late indeed. The dating site market is saturated and the chances of you making this work without investing money is slim to zero. As Sarahk said you are going to need a hook, something that makes you stand out from the rest, and you are going to need an app. If you do decide to invest some money into advertising then there are plenty of companies that specialise in Facebook advertising that could get you much better results than doing it yourself.
I reckon it would take more than "some", but I'm guessing the rewards are there, if you can stand the risks.
Thanks sarahk, I'm not doing a brand new website, but becoming a partner of an existing dating site which has been in the industry for years. So I don't need to worry about the unique features or mobile support, etc. I just want to bring them some new users using a new landing page. Currently I'm having difficulties in get valid referrals. Thanks Dean_Saliba, not planning to invest a lot, just want to try some free promotions. what do you think
That too has been oversaturated. The question you should ask yourself: Why would anybody go to your site to sign up for a well-known dating service when they can just go to their site directly? It's a lose - lose type of thing for you right now.
while it may be saturated, you still can take a bite of the pie so long as your site is much user friendly and has better interface and with the targeted traffic, you still can earn a lot with it. you will somehow compete with social media sites though. is this an adult dating site?
You have SO MUCH competition in this area it is not going to be very easy. You're going to need to do something to make yourself stand out. You might also consider offering a free 1-2 year membership to the first few hundred people who sign up so you can get some people there. Beyond that you might consider offering a free 2 week or 30 day trial membership to all new users. If they have it and like it they wont be so quick to give it up. If they have to give up money on it and arent sure they wont be so quick to give that up either. The main thing is you want women on your site! If you have women the men will follow. Without members, especially women, you wont have any reason for date seekers to come there in the first place. Start building your contacts. Everyone you meet you should try to get their social media handles and add them on social media. Give out a helpful and more importantly an INTERESTING tip once or twice a week on your social media platforms. Tips that could grab attention may be about Sexual Health, Sex Tips, What Attracts the Opposite Gender, etc. Keep it relevant to the whole dating, male-female thing. And do it just for the sake of gaining exposure, don't make these a sales pitch. Make a blog for your site and fill it up with more in depth information about subjects like what your posting tips on and link your tips to this blog. Make a YouTube channel too, put those tips out on as many different platforms as you can and you want them all linking back to your site. Look at your biggest competition. what are people saying about them? What are the complaints, what are the features that their users wished they provided? Fill in those gaps with your own service. Make sure that you are catering to the mobile market! Create an app that has some cool features, make it super simple to use. You can get some of the market share, the downside is you will not be doing it for free. If this is a business you are really behind you're going to need to be prepared to spend on it. You might try some crowdfunding sites to try and raise PART of the capital you will need, but you're really going to need to sell it to em.
Have you tried Paid traffic service? You can try Facebook Ads, Adwords to get targeted traffic for your website.
