How much do you have in savings?

  1. I have more than $2,200 USD

    63.3%
  2. I have less than $2,200 USD

    36.7%

Apparently, if you have more than $2,200 USD in savings then you are more wealthy than half of the world. Who here falls in that camp?

So I guess the definition of "wealth" is how much money you have in savings?
Anyway, I think that the $2,200 figure is inaccurate. Global GDP per capita in PPP should be much higher.

I think if you live in an affluent country, you are already wealthier than 1/2 the world's population, savings account aside!!

Wow, thats not what i would call wealthy in the united states--that would be pocket change for most. Even for me that would be nothing cus something would break down and had to be fixed.

I read that article too. Interesting. Being rich is relative.

Got $2,200? In this world, you're rich

A global study reveals an overwhelming wealth gap, with the world's three richest people having more money than the poorest 48 nations combined.

    By MarketWatch

The richest 2% of the world's population owns more than half of the world's household wealth.

You may believe you've heard this statistic before, but you haven't: For the first time, personal wealth -- not income -- has been measured around the world. The findings may be surprising, for what makes people "wealthy" across the world spectrum is a relatively low bar...

Technically, wealth isn't "money" it's "material things" - if that makes sense. :p

This is not true! I read the entire research, and you have to have USD 2200 in total, so including all your posessions, to belong to the richest half. So, that includes your house, your computer, etcetera.
I suppose most DP members have that.
