    It may help some, but the important thing is the quality of the traffic you get and how many conversions that turns into.

    I also think that it is google rank can increase traffic. In addition, if we are talking about PR, it updates stopped if I understand correctly.

    It`s the other way around. The better the rank, the more traffic you can drive to your website. That is how organic traffic works.
    But don`t worry, your final goal is to increase your traffic. If you can do that without wasting too much time on SEO and not spending a fortune on advertising, why not?

    You need to find a better measure of SEO success than page rank which isn't being updated so you'll never actually know. Only @burke3 seemed to have taken note.

    As for Google knowing how much traffic you have - it all comes down to how much "information sharing" is going on, something I haven't researched. However if we can put value on Alexa's ranking based on incomplete data then Google have a case to track how many Chrome users visit a site, the info stored in Analytics and WMT, the number of ad impressions you publish.

    It depends, if you are generating a good amount of traffic to your site but you are getting a high percentage of bounce rate then I don't think your rank will increase. There are actually a lot of factors you need to consider to improve your ranking on SERP. Focus on your target audience and optimize your page onsite. Improve your business online presence and establish reputation on the industry you are in. You'll not just improve your site ranking but also your overall SEO efforts.

    I too thought he was talking about SERP rank, which will be affected by traffic - but not because of volume.

    Google looks at the Bounce Rate and Time on Site to help determine the quality of the content.

    Page Rank? Focus on your PA and you will be fine :)
