The previous excuse for many of editors was that the adult section was not accessible from main site, so therefore they had nothing to do with adult section. But since the adult links are shown from the main site now, this excuse is gone and all the DMOZ editors are participant in adult industry. Just do a search for adult words in DMOZ.org and you will see all the "quality" results.
I do not see any links from the main page of dmoz.org to Adult, but I do see that if you search for an adult keyword, it does show the adult section. Was this blocked previously, or has it always been this way?
I just used "Adult" to search for it http://search.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/search?search=adult but cudnt find anything that points to the adult section - or maybe i am missing something here
It's not a good thing, but I think we can all agree that while DMOZ is being worked on we should expect temporary changes, some good and some bad unfortunately. The important thing is that DMOZ is being worked on.
Agreed, its just like two sides of a coin. But its good to see that atleast something is happening in the background... it might not b the same case when the finalized version of new DmoZ comes out..
Yes you are right are on the money Even when you search Google you do not get quality results for adult keywords But on Dmoz you quite rightly get quality adult sites
At any point of time I will not make another Dmoz Instead of making another Dmoz I am trying out a different thing now let us whether it happens or not
why is it important that dmoz is being worked on ? i have a old website with tons of real visitors and content, a website that actually provide something usefull, submited years ago and regulary after and its not listed so for me dmoz mean a mediocre link farm.
Yes you may right Even though Dmoz has some good links but most of the websites in dmoz are not very good
When the site went down any search of adult related site was unavailable. But now since some of the editors (tech knowledge) are working their way into reconstructing the ODP within their own initiative instead of the sponsor doing it, bringing it back to life would be more of a disaster. If owners dropped it for some reason then might as well respect it. Let them do what is best after all they own it. What is the purpose of RESSURECTING it back to life ? If the sponsors don't even have the BONES to make necessary repairs and backup a project why give a >>>> ? It has gone to a peak of its milestone already. Maybe its time to let it go. There are new things happening out there and it seems Google and AOL are much more interested in. Financial gain is a corporate policy. Introductions of new products, ventures and new projects are being published by them and never mentions about their DYING PROJECT.
