"File name too long" errors

I noticed that one of my blogs was down a few times yesterday, so I decided to check the error logs on my VPS. I found something that I haven't seen before, there is a whole bunch of records like this one:
    [Mon Jan 04 21:22:12.274774 2016] [core:error] [pid 16226] (36)File name too long: [client 176.9.122.182:58756] AH00127: Cannot map GET /blog/images/images/images/images/...
The pattern "images/" in the URL is repeated 1000 times.

I wonder if anybody knows how to deal with this, I assume it is some kind of DOS attack where attacker uses extra long URLs...?

You can use a third party software to bypass filename errors. I suggest to try Long File Tool in this case.

You could safely ignore that log message. It could be related with the client browser settings or a hacker kid action. Ensure that the blog version is up-to-date and use secure passwords for mysql/ftp users for security (Assuming you are on a shared hosting account)
