Is Photoshop a necessity for a designer?

    I think learning photoshop is not must for everyone. Because everything can be done in adobe illustrator. I work in illustrator. I produce Magnificent logos.

    Yeah, Photoshop is really needed for a designer. As a designer I'll recommend you to learn Photoshop well.

    There are members here who claim that photoshop is for art - and not for webdesign. Have you encountered those opinions? Your thoughts?

    No It is not necessary to know about PS, Because there are many alternative to PS. Such as Gimp, Affinity, CorelDraw etc. But PS is best on them for its prevalence to whole over the world.

    That's a good question you have there.

    I think Photoshop is a must for pros because it has the tools you need to make a photo look beautiful.

    Also, there are many sites that could help you out with learning how to use it so you won't have a hard time.

    Photoshop is definitely top of the pile. It's a fantastic program, although there are many things you will not touch if you are a Photographer, vice versa if you are a designer. Can be complicated but worth it for the rich array of options it offers. I personally would have withdrawals if somebody knicked my PS. To test the water you could try a much cheaper option in Adobe Elements. Pretty similar but with the Photographer in mind. Good Luck with your studies. (I taught PS in college!) -

    I would attach a graphic as an illustration but it tells me the size is wrong - Does anyone know the attach graphics size limits?

    Photoshop is the first step on the way to design, especially to graphic design. And Illustrator, of course, too. They complete each other. When you want to find a job in a big company, I'm sure first requirement you'll see is knowing Adobe apps.

    Assuming all they want is an artist, NOT a designer, since DESIGN is about more than just dicking around drawing goofy pictures... a concept sadly lost on a lot of the ignorant twits who call themselves "designers".

    I said "twit", I mean another word with a different vowel.

    if u want to join web design or image editing indusrty in future,then it will definitely play a great role in your carrier. photoshop has a great future and also having an international standard
