Well, if it is done correctly, then both Google Plus and Facebook would be very effective as a part of your SEO internet marketing strategy.

From an SEO perspective, Google plus has more significance than Facebook. Google plus offers more exposure for online businesses and is a great medium for one on one interaction with accomplished business personalities. Facebook on the other hand, involves ‘family’ and ‘friends’ and has been loved that way. Also, Google consider Google plus as an important factor for search rankings.

For some, popularity makes a service worthwhile. For others, it's just annoying.

    Hi all,
Looking from the SEO point of view both Google+ and Facebook are better for bringing traffic to our website, it may vary that how many friends are you having on both of these. http://www.dimensioniseo.com/

yeah all major social sites give nofollow link only. The likes, the +1 and rt counts for seo and not the links.

For Professional person all ways better for SEO, if you want to use just some steps of SEO then you'll not get that what you want from Google, Because Google + and facebook giving you visitor, likes, viewers etc... so both of the best for SEO. :)
