It doesn't have to be that way. My website can be about cars and my friend might have one about fashion. We can add a link to each other in mutual interest.
Love it. Go Luke. Yes, buy lots and lots of them - point them straight at your site, much like using the Gun in Luke's Avatar. Buy 30k-40k at a time so that they have a definite impact... which they most certainly will!
Seriously, backlinks still matter and don't think for a minute that major brands aren't buying them daily. They are. Most 6 Digit companies are. I know because I am helping them. And there is nothing wrong with it either. Google Adwords also charges for backlinks - think about it. They sell links all day long. The question is one of quality. There are very good quality link building services out there, but they cost god money. It's a case of getting what you pay for. Having said that, I love building links the hard way - infographics, outreach, etc. It takes longer but it is very satisfying.
For that you have search your self and ready one good data base of links also you have update that website list each and every month, And replace those are not live , There are many way to collect data base.
Even though buying links is a bulshit thought but let me tell you that i have bought links from Fiverr that too from Sony, Amazon, etc at 5$ to 10 $. and it really works.
