Selling Links and Ad Space on a PR0 Site

Simple question, I'd appreciate your input. Is it feasible to consider selling links and ads on a PR0 site assuming I have significant traffic?

I have been looking into selling links and ad space but I am being held back by my PR. The website in question is under 3 weeks old but yesterday I received 974 unique visitors.

Why should my PR be holding me back when I can clearly provide some advertisers a useful service?

improve your link popularity...submit your site to link directories...create articles then submit them to article directories...link exchange with relevant, quality and trusted sites...by doing that it'll increase your PR...

If you are able to sustain traffic then you might be able to sell ads. That is one thing lot of people look for. How old the site is, how many visitors and is this behavior consistent. And 3 weeks is too less of time to back up any statement claiming 'consistent high traffic' - which is beneficial for those who pay to put ads on your site.

matt-baker, i don't think it would be easy to sell ads space if you have less than 200 visitors per day (considering the PR0). most people pay for a link only because of the PR, the traffic sometimes plays little role, unless it's something significant, like 3k a day. but, good luck with it!

Some people are PR fiends, if the link was in my niche i'd go for it but doubt it is :)

I would wait till pagerank goes up and then advertise because it seems better that way any ways.

Yes you could sell links even if your website has a PR of 0. The number and quality of your visitors is all that matters, not the PR.

Personally I would not buy advertising space off a site that is three weeks old; you need to give proof of visitor numbers over a prolonged period of time.

My advice is to be patient, in a few months time you'l have PR and you'll have reliable traffic stats; this will enable you to sell advertising space for its true value.

You can sell advertising. People going for PR won't buy from you, but those aiming for direct visitors will advertise. Make sure to include traffic stats and any proves you can show when trying to sell ads...
    Bye :)

I've had the same problem all my life, I've made great websites (<1month) I was hitting alot of uniques and though why not place ads? Well, google rejected, yahoo didn't reply etc..etc.. Therefor I suggest you just wait, and improve the PR (every 100days PR refreshes) otherwise just use some AdBrite, and other marketers will see you have alot of traffic incoming even though website is young, hope this helps..

If you can sustain the traffic for a few more months and prove that traffic to potential advertisers, I would think you could sell links on a PR0 site. But, as stated above, 3 weeks is not enough time. It is more the age of your site rather than the pagerank at this point. Personally, if a site was receiving almost 1,000 uniques/day and was in my field, I would buy a link even if it was a PR0 site.

However, it is fairly easy to raise your pr as stated in the examples above. So, you may want to consider building links to increase your pr. Because a high traffic, high PR site will be even more valuable to advertisers and make you more money. Good luck!

I'm aware of how to increase my PR and I am taking the necessary steps to do so. Don't worry about that. I was simply curious if I could contemplate selling text links at this early stage.

Thank you all for your responses!

I think you can sell in for early

improve backlinks regulary and try to get more traffic. The PR updates for times a year, but search engine ranking updates often.

There is no need to wait for a few more months. If you find a webmaster willing to advertise, then go for it. Then use the money earned to invest in your site and it will grow faster. Close to 1000 visitors is not bad and shows that the site has potential. PR matters only to one section of webmasters.

I may be interested to advertise if the site is in the right niche. Please PM me the URL and the asking price.

Even if it is PR0, you can simply check to see if the site is indexed in google. If it is, then it is not banned.

Yes, it's feasible, you can sell links either for PR or for traffic - here you don't have PR but you have traffic which is better than PR.

don't be held back by PR. just give it a try and you don't loose anything by trying. you are selling something not buying so there's no loss involved. the worst case would be that you'd not get any buyers - so what, nothing lost at least ;) and if it's genuine site with legit traffic and good content and you are in the long-term you would definitely get advertisers.

btw, if it is a blog meeting the above mentioned criteria I posted - feel free to pm me the price you want, I would probably buy :)
