Can i buy domain directly from icann or who ever registers it? I am having second thought that if my website gets popular the domain registrar can take my domain name from my hands. Like godaddy is a registrar for him self And facebook is not registered by any normal registerar like namecheap etc etc
No you can't but you can always go to https://www.markmonitor.com/ if you are paranoid that you've picked a dodgy registrar. Unless you have something truly special I can't see any of the well known or well established registrars ripping you off - it's not worth the damage to their reputation - but even then, why would you rip off something like CNN or facebook? you know it'll be a PR disaster and you won't be able to do anything with it.
Unless you're doing something which is illegal, you really have nothing to worry about if you register the name at a well-known domain registrar like godaddy.
No, You cant register directly from ICANN. You need to buy with an ICANN-accredited registrar. I own more 50 domain names, rest assured, owning a domain name would be safe as long as you buy it from accredited registrar.
Sharing is Caring is right. You can feel at ease buying from accredited registrars. No one will take away your domain name until unless you have forgotten to renew it or your credit card linked to your account has problems.
well facebook is using markmonitor Do markmonitor cost to safe my domain name? My domain is LolzToday.com registerar is namesilo.com icann accredited. My domain is LolzToday.com Namesilo is okay?
Hi, Yes as mentioned before if it's an ICANN accredited registrar you shouldn't have any problems. If you pay for your domain then it should be secure, I think the problem is when you get a "free domain" then when someone else wants your free domain and the other person is willing to pay for it, then you will have to present a bid offer in order to keep it.
I also use Godaddy, you really have nothing to worry about if you register the name at a well-known domain registrar like godaddy
