Proxy site - how to start promoting it

I might be interested in making a proxy or a few proxy sites. What is the best way to get some visitors to it ?

submit it to directories, choose some keywords and optimize the website, then buy some links on related websites, do link exchanges with other webmasters, write related articles and submit them to article directories

Another place to try is proxy related forums, there's always lots of people looking for "fresh" proxy sites that haven't been banned by their school/organization yet.

I would like to own a proxy site -- for the reason i used to use one when i was at college. To get around the filters and get to the flash games sites that are blocked.

Im worried it will be used for "evil" though, there are a lot of bad reasons people want a proxy. how does the law stand if people use your proxy for this type of stuff. Will the owner get blamed, or the users.

 

Ofcourse owner...They cant do anything except shutting down your server..

I have bought my hosting with 200 gigs and got the tech guys to tell me that the server is going to hold it

Costing me very little so if I can get it to make $150-$200 I am in great profit.

I will come back to the thread with more info when I do that.

generally most of hosting site dosnt allow proxy sites. as they sucks lots of bandwidth i advice you to get server which is cheap and good.. most of hosting provider dosnt know what are proxysites so they cant answer .. i am taking my sites to dedicated server now.. it makes your site fast..
