What is the most important step of SEO?

The first important step for SEO is keyword search and quality content.

 

The primary steps of SEO is keyword research, content strategy, on page then off page. I agree with all of you that content is the king for best traffic and top SERP But Now a days a search engine work firstly on content then after all the things like , local listing, back link, social awareness etc.

 

The most important thing in SEO is to avoid Google's penalization)) But if to talk seriously I have to agree that keyword research if not the most important but the first step in doing SEO. That's for sure.

 

Persistence is the single most important factor when it comes to SEO.

When you are passionate about SEO, you will be persistent with it. Starting SEO and not keeping up with it month after month is a sure fire way to fail. You have to be in it for the long haul. SEO success does not come overnight. Like most good things in life it takes a lot of time and hard work.

 

(1) Be an expert in the field you are writing about. Otherwise, you are just adding more worthless junk to the mountains of worthless junk already on the worldwide web. And (2) write well, with good spelling and grammar.

 

Recently I saw one interesting statistic data.
One famous SEO platform made a research "What are the most important objectives for your SEO strategy in the year ahead (in 2015)?" And answers were next: increase lead generation - 61%, increase website traffic - 57%, increase traffic conversion rate - 54%, improve natural search ranking - 48%, improve brand awareness - 33%, improve analytics and reporting - 26% and increase content development - only 20%.
Of course every research is rather subjective, but for me was interesting to see real figures.

 

In my point of view keyword research, url structure, content and backlinks.

NOTHING else matters if your visitors cannot be retained!

I'm not a pro on seo. But I think if you insist on covering a lot of bases on one particular topic, it should help you move up in the ranks. For example, maybe I have a blog with many topics, but with each topic, publish a lot of different options on the main keyword/phrase - Like: octopus milkshake, octopus pie, octopus skin, octopus seeds, dice up octopus, kill an octopus, grow your own octopus - all in different posts/articles. Damn, this takes a LOT of octopussing time!

 

Your niche is the first thing you decide on and then for SEO purposes, it is hands down Keywords!!

Learned that Keywords describes the terms of words that people are trying to find information on the internet.
To get people to your website, traffic, you need to research which keywords people are typing in to search engines looking for the information in your niche.

There are keywords and keyword phrases. Keywords are usually one word. Keyword phrases are 2 or more words.

There are four types:
1. Broad eg. Money
2. Narrow eg. Make Money Online
3. Long-tail eg. How To Make Money Online
4. Buying eg. Buy _________(product name) / Product Name Review, etc.

Today it is being recommended to use Long-tail keywords so your target market is specific and more qualified.

To find these keywords, there are many places you can research to see what people are searching for. eg. keywordspy.com, google adwords, etc.

Yes, I have to agree; and aside from the fact that it is the most important step in SEO it is also the most tedious task in SEO.
It is like, "how do I begin with it" to "am I getting it right". haha

In my little brain i saw that not only keyword is a important role play off improving SEO but also use right content for meta description is also important part off that.

 

There is no such thing like "THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP". Every step is important. Keyword research, domain choose, CONTENT, products to promote (or services!), On-Page SEO & Off-Page SEO!

yes keyword research is the heart of seo . If you can not select proper keyword than whatever you do that will not effective. After that on page optimization is the biggest matter.

 

The most important and first step of SEO is The keyword research. Without this any one can not make any strategy for content or link building.
If anyone selects wrong keywords then the whole campaign will fail.

 

Link building is the important part, keyword research doesn't really matter as google uses semantic search now and can ,,read,, and understand your content.

 

I thing the most important step of seo are:

1. Content must be unique.
2. Use Appropriate keyword in your content.
3. Do not copy any kind of things.
4. Focus On page seo more cause now its very important.

Actually its my opinion , SEO is long term process.
