In my opinion people buy "fake" traffic in order to make themselves look cooler, to try an earn more money from prospective buyers, to get "ranked" higher, or to flip the Domain over for a higher price. I dont believe that this "fake" traffic really helps anyone out other than the person that is selling it. I people actually did some research they will see all the "fake" traffic or bot accounts/traffic.

Maybe they don't have any better sense. Maybe newbies like myself might fall for something like that thinking it will actually do something for them. The whole instant gratification thing is big these days. Personally I would rather build some kind of relationship with real people who visit my site because there is something of value for them. On the other hand the poor results might be enough to cull the herd some.

Fiverr is full of fake traffic providers, but not all bulk traffic is boots.
We are working for over 4 years with Visitorz.co.uk as a reliable source for binary option and finance traffic.

The follower/likes stats display on social media pages puts undue pressure on people to bloat their numbers in order to appear good.

The top guys' obsession with metrics has led to this, I guess. They like to measure everything, doesn't matter the metrics are not true.

They have no idea what they are doing, buying fake traffic is considered as blackhat method and penalizes website.

No it doesnt. Since when is buying traffic blackhat? And since when has a website/webmaster ever been penalized for buying traffic? NEVER. You dont know what YOU are talking about son.

I understand it's hard for any brand to make online presence but if you got unique from other then you will get traffic.

I definitely agree with the majority on this one. I made this mistake early on when fiddling with ways to marketing things online and purchased some link traffic. Not only did my account for that website get flagged/reported but I also made no headway in sales/revenue in any way.

Essentially I lost money because I paid for the traffic itself which is quite ironic.

Moral of the story...stay away from fraudulent traffic. It's not even worth the hassle.

Fake traffic is cancer! You know GOOGLE is not a stupid runner here! They know legit and people who wants a quick name which is not possible. So, stay away from paid traffic specially from fiverr etc. It take time to build your brand. 1 or even 2 to 3 years! but its fruitful :)

It's a way to get sponsors. Once sponsors see that there is traffic or viewers on a site or channel, then they're willing to sponsor that.

To show that their site actually gets traffic and isn't actually doing terrible. Its not really worth it because they aren't going to be making sales. Rather test different sources of traffic and see what traffic source converts best. Buy 100-200 clicks and if you see results, build on from there.

In lots of instances, the hits aren't bots but real hits that originate from third world countries where most people don't have disposable income nor access to credit or debit cards. So if you are offering an affiliate product for sale by first giving away something free to get people to join your email list, you can have hundreds or thousands of persons joining your list and accessing the free product without ever purchasing anything. You call these 'tyre kickers', and this kind of traffic is called 'garbage traffic' and it is the kind you get from safe lists, traffic exchanges, those revenue share advertising programs like My Advertising Pays, Traffic Monson and all such like. Worldwide traffic which means untargeted traffic is a complete waste of time for serious internet marketers.

The term "Quality Traffic" is the opposite to the "Tyre Kickers" or Garbage traffic I made mention of in my last post.

To sell websites - Look on any domain auction site and you will find awful sites for sale, which have no history, no links, but lots of traffic... anyone with experience will know that this is fake, but obviously there are still people how there who fall for it.
