    Moreover Can you please let us know where has mike stated the same ?

    I assume that in the contests the rules are to made clear initially and not written here and there in a post or two in a forum

    backlinks from external sites are ok.

    Sitewide links on your own directory are not.

    Those backlinks do not disqualify his site. It is ok to get links pointing to your listing page from other websites or blogs with the anchor text directorycontest.com.

    hahaha same thing asked by me several times, which was never replied and will not be , or may be they say again rule changed minute ago.

    Lets stop the on page thing because mike said that got me disqualified but never got warned too.
    What about the backlinks from other sites where it was said no backlinks as this is not a seo contest and then we are told get as many backlinks you can :rolleyes: :rolleyes:

    I think that would be fine with everyone visiting your blog instead of worrying about members here on DP discussing this(me, and other who were here asking for answers but getting answer as: we are just closing this discussion and so on) on DP. I would simply suggest you to now worry about those who will read the contest rules and all further.

    Yes, you are allowed to use directorycontest.com as an anchor text to point to your listing page, but only from other websites not your own. Otherwise everyone who is the contest would be banned, for almost everyone has that anchor text pointing to their site from another site.

    Why can't the contest have a panel of judges to determine if the participating entry was over optimized by making it a link building contest instead of a true directory contest, and thus get penalty points towards the final ranking.

    Obviously this leans towards a more subjective solution, but as we are seeing some confusion in regards to rules of the contest - it is somewhat already subjective and up to interpretation.

    Let's put the penalty system in terms of fantasy basketball.

    Iverson is great for categories Points, Steals, and Assist but gets penalized for Turnovers.

    In that regards, even if a certain directory ranks #1 they may still get penalized in the contest for point 1000+ backlinks into it because in reality they do not do this for every site submission into their directory.

    I still dont see any of the question's answer being provided yet. Along with my question and other participent here. (Along with no rules page either)

    I have came to know that according to the unviable rules which seems to be made and changed anytime and commenter with the rules are non another then participents of the contest themselves to get them qualified living behind other entries.

    It is simply a mess to me.
