I have already removed the sitewide and regarding the backlinks mike said we should not have any backlinks and this is not a contest, then i find another psot where it says you can get any no of backlinks. So you just need to prove how good your link building works. Amit
What are contest are for! You have added the amount of money in your contest. Just to attract people to link you back or make people go competitive to win the contest Please explain me "EVERY other listing" arent contest.
Ok, Mike give it to us raw and uncut with no remorse. Who is banned from the contest as of right now. I think everyone should know and an example be set before things get to far out of hand.
Because by stopping external link building, it would allow people to sabotage other peoples directories and would be too hard to police. Placing a sitewide link on your directory that points to the contest listing in it is NOT something that directory owners do for EVERY listing, and THAT is easy to police and stop people from doing.
Please don;t worry about any other directories than your own. I am on top of those. Just because I haven't publically scrutinized some of them, doesn't mean that me and my team members are not aware of what they are doing. There are currently 180k results in Google and a lot of honest participants working hard on their directories without trying to cheat in a contest. I am not about to waste any more time trying to explain the more than obvious. This discussion is over as far as I am concerned and I have decided that 3 directories on the first 2 pages are banned from the contest, and that includes yours. I am awaiting the others' reactions and will then consult with my friends as to what is permissable and what isn't. Sorry about that and good luck with your directory! - Mike

No NLRMedia, romow had it via sitewide as well. In the footer, pointing back to where the listing resided.

One statement should sum up the entire contest rules. "To see which directories benefit NORMAL listings within them the most" If you cannot figure out what is normal and what is not, then I am sorry. For the record! I have been in contact with Mike about this contest since day 1. I will also be one working with Mike when it comes time to sort out the winners. Those who have been breaking the rules will not be given recognition. I have been taking screen shots and reporting to Mike when I see someone doing so.

Mike you already said no backlinks should be given to the entry, later you say you can get backlinks which is confusing. You say this is not a contest where we should et backlinks, then you say that do anything and just rank for the keyword. Thanks for pointing that out. Blogmaster I still see no thread or page where there is any list of rules which should had been there. I would suggest place a set of rules which wont create discussion further. IF you truly want the discussion to get over. Next time, if anyone tries to start a contest. Please know the procedure to start the contest with proper guideline. Hence easing the understanding between the contest runner and the participent.

I think all the rules of contest must be framed before the contest is started.... What is this that you start a contest and when you see someone going ahead or win, then you frame a new rule to disqualify him or her.... this is really really bad
Well, you are right. I have said from day one I want regular listings. And I do understand that some directory scripts just like the one I am using on www.blogparty.net are showing backlinks to the latest featured listings. I thought that when I said I want regular or featured listings only, common sense would tell you that it is not ok to have the keyword directorycontest.com anywhere else, especially when I have stated that on site seo is not allowed. Why don't you post-pone the contest until you have the rules clearly stated and restart it? This is going to get more ugly if you keep changing your mind and a new question is addressed.
