I have been getting most of my backlinks from social media websites like Pinterest, Twitter, etc... How do you get backlinks to add SEO value?

Some of the backlinking strategies don't work like they used to . . . but I guess they are worth a try.

the best way to get links naturally though is to just write great content that people are going to want to link to. It always works!

 

The best strategy now is infographics and guest posting on high DA blogs so far.

A few more strategies:
1. give a paid product for free in exchange for a link back
2. Search for blog posts with deadlinks and inform the owner that you have a similar content that can be link to them.

 

Work more on your social profiles and they will have a better chance of having your posts shared and reshared when you share them.

 

I agree with Andy-Jones and livelife09, the best method is to create your social fabric contents useful for potential customers. If you meet the information needs of users, users themselves will share

 

It's all great but if you are in a competitive niche you will need more than social media backlinks and bookmarks.

I suggest you look into PBN domains in conjunction with PBN hosting.
