I love to watch them and I wonder if life exists then there must be an existence of paranormal forces, so horror movies show the best of paranormal things.

I don't really like those movies where they show you cutting eyeballs out with fingernails of a woman who had just slowly broke her leg with some mechanism etc. It's gross! I prefer psychologic horrors where nothing really scary happens on the screen but you are worrying all the time.

I totally agree. I think horror movies as of late have relied to much on gore and cringe factor rather than good acting or story line.

I'm into older movies generally. But not your run of the mill kind. There are lots and lots of horrible movies done back than. Actually, if I were to judge broadly, the majority of movies being made now are more watchable, more tolerable, but the frequency of greatness has taken a very damaging hit.

Old horror is indeed more enjoyable. It's a tad outdated and theatrical for today's standarts, hence you might not turly see them as they were intended. If this is the case, then we are dealing with a further developement not present in the movies, but present in today's audience. :)

70's, 80's and a few 90's horror for me. Most horror films out now are either bad remakes or torture porn.

Hollywood: "Hey we ran out of ideas. Let's just remake a classic or make a movie about five people that got kidnapped and held in a room with no exit and the only way out is for them to saw off their own leg or kill each other."

    The saw
However, it's more a thriller, but very interesting and with unpredictable plot.

The ones where fright is the main ingredient. Things like old plots and good dialogue really does go well with horror.

It also doesn't help that most of today's horror stories are about angsty teenagers or something completely out of the topic.
I think I'm one to go for the gortesque. But that's just me.
