Hello, I'm currently learning the following languages: HTML / CSS JavaScript / JQuery PHP MySQL I was just wondering how good work opportunities are for these skills. I'm self-taught and want to make sure my hard work in learning pays off. It doesn't matter to me if I'm a freelancer, or work for a company, I just need to be able to make money! Thanks in advance.
I would suggest you follow specialized forums and the likes. If you really need to familiarize yourself with the enviroment. The more efficent you become in mastering those languages, the more "blank" info-s will you complete by yourself. I would say you have to perpetually hunt for the opportunities. Also, the rate of opportunities are a matter of achievement. Don't stress about it though, if you have a knack for this line fo work you will be quite well off. It also depends on your circumstances and the area where you live, of course. Anyway, hope you suceed.
It's vital to recollect what a freelancer is. Customarily, a consultant is a specialist in their field. I know, that is not so much the case any longer.
There are definitely lots of opportunities available and the best way to get freelance projects is to network well with others.
It's realistic... But those aren't really the skills that you need. The #1 skill that you'll need to develop is "sales". One of my businesses is a web development agency and we do web sites that range in price from $1K to $30K per site. I have very little programming knowledge (I've never coded an entire website myself, ever). It sounds like you are going to be a really good programmer that knows what they are doing so you'll have a huge edge technically. The only reason I'm able to charge those prices and acquire customers is because I've spent a lot of time learning how to sell and outsource the web development to my web development team. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is while you are learning those awesome tehnical skills, make sure you learn and practice sales. It's the only way to get customers.
Well if you have learned all these languages then you can join my team at elance and get paid for the work you do there are lots of job opportunities there just follow the link https://www.elance.com/?rid=5AGXN
Well said. Sales is one of the most important skills that's overlooked by most people. You can posess all technical skills in the world but won't make a dime unless you can sell yourself. You can have the best product in the world but noone will ever buy it unless you know how to sell it!
Once you have developed your skills and gain experience in the development environment, you should have no problem in making a good living. There's plenty of work for both freelance and employed web developers. Good luck with your learning.
