So I just checked my latest ProRankTracker report and it appears I am ranking number one for a keyword on Yandex, with #2 being the wikipedia page for said keyword. This keyword is nothing special, just 1,300 searches per month on Google - I am currently receiving mostly UK visitors. Does Yandex mean anything? Is there a cetain advertiser I could target for being number one on this search engine? The only experience I have with Yandex is seeing their spider crawling my sites from time to time, so any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Yandex is an important Russian search engine, so if you are targeting to a Russian auditory and are able to submit to Yandex, go ahead. Doing this has nothing to do with Google and there's no a reason to be penalized for doing this. I have seen Yandex indexing my websites organically, same ans Baidu, the Chinese search engine, but I have never found them listed. Or maybe it's because I don't understand a word of these to browse them.
In Russia, Yandex holds more than half the market. Yandex has significant market share in Belarus, Kazakhstan and Turkey Only if your site has a version for one of the above mentioned regions
Ranking number 1 on the search engine is useless if your website doesn't engage with the targeted users, which means that there are visitors but they were no conversions at all.
Agree. Ranking for the cause of the rank itself bring either people, clicks, business or money!! Why rank at all if it doesn't count where counting matters!? For me it would be a waste of time...
Yandex is to Russia what Baidu is to China. If you have an audience in Russia, yes, Yandex ranking is super important.
