Maybe you should try to get to know other webmasters so you can post on each other's forum.
There are also some great deals bout payed posting on this forum..

Mm, maybe you can try to get your forum some attention at a local political event.
Or maybe you can do some advertising on other political websites(without a forum) .
Maybe a more 'unique' theme would help also , because I think your homepage is a little bit unatractive, but that's my personal opinion

I'm have the same delima as you. One thing I did was write a mod to add Digg, del.icio.us, and slashdot to every thread topic, although that really doesn't help with the catch 22 problem.

Well, you need to have a foundation or marketing won't work. After that, CPC may work, it's what I'm going to try.

It's a bad time to promote a political forum. The elections are over until mid- late 2007 when the campaining starts all over again. People right now are worried about Christmas and new years, they are tired of politics.

Is it American Politics or..canadian or..? Because, we're almost about to have an election in Canada (next spring) so..you can still have some chances with that.

Look into Zoints.com as well..it's a social marketing for forums..seems quite promising atm.

There are lots of powerful political blogs...commenting wisely there and asking for link exchanges can also bring in tons of traffic
