Hello there, I'm an artist and make videos, etc for youtube and facebook... Most people like it, but lets say 5% of the people say i copy another artist (who is more famous). Even tho, I don't and have got a lot of appreciating comments, but that 5% of the people bug me the most. I don't know how to reply to them.. I just want to shut them up! Its basically because of he's been around from a while and we have main audience from same country, may be thats why people think I copy him. But I don't get it, if one person has the same profession as other, doesn't mean he's copy the other one. Isn't? I know its merely nothing, get 90% of good comments, 5% of bad comments and rest 5% 'you copy him' etc. Tired of it, now i think its time to shut em up.. Idk how should I reply, i don't like to be rude to anyone.
I never copy any video idea... In fact, he copied my few ideas, but he has more fan following as he's old. I just do videos in my style. Btw, Typo in Title of thread, wanted to write 'think'.. Can't correct it now as I cant edit it. sorry.
If 90% of your readers/followers appreciate your effort and commend you for originality then who cares about the 5% who are determined to bring you down. They could make noises but as long as you know you are working hard doing original stuff and not pirating someone else’s work then you should rest easy and sleep peacefully. These 5% won’t do you harm, perhaps they are just envious of your talents; eventually they will get tired of targeting you. Just focus on doing your stuff and making it better, soon they will realize that you have come so far and they were left behind eating dust.
I know, you're 100% right... I don't know why its in my nature, I read 100 nice comments and then 2-3 bad comments, I get depressed. lol.. I'm trying to overcome this weakness of mine, will take some time imho..
I think @nard hit the nail on the head. Even great personalities in history couldn't escape criticism. In fact, if you take criticism positively, it can do more good. I'll just leave you with this article - http://www.theguardian.com/culture-...-blog/2012/feb/09/reasons-tips-criticism-arts. Take a look and decide for yourself OP. Good luck.
The 5% mostly sound like they are envious or your success. In this situation, the best "revenge" is continuing to live well and doing what you do best.
I'd just stop reading the comments. Obviously the issue is not going to go away on its own. Why bother reading them if you know someone may say "you've copied so and so".
Your reply reminds me of that famous quote by Oscar Wilde - "Always forgive your enemies - nothing annoys them so much." Forgiveness can indeed be the best "revenge" sometimes, trust me!
Correct! Envy and jealousy can cloud people’s judgement. Usually those who keep on dragging you down are just jealous of what you’ve accomplish, stop listening to them. If you can block or delete their comments so you won’t have to see them anymore then you should do it. It’s no use keeping them if they just cause you trouble.
That's probably one of the biggest advantages of the virtual or digital world. You can just delete or block comments/replies you don't want to see - as if they never existed. However, if someone criticizes you man-to-man and in person in the real world, your ONLY choice is to ignore them or take the criticism positively and just move on.
True, famous people like celebrities and politicians do that all the time. They know that it's impossible to please everyone so they just practice the art of shrugging their shoulders whenever they hear bad feedback. I think, in this world we're living, you can't thrive if you don't know how to play deaf and insensitive sometimes.
I know what you're saying. I've been practicing selective hearing (http://www.wisegeek.org/what-is-selective-hearing.htm) right from my childhood. I still recall my mom, dad and school teachers saying, "But this brat will simply NEVER listen!!! I just give up on him!" And I guess that's how I managed to live through all these years.
No one can get all the positive comment, If you are getting more than 80% positive comment, it is good enough. It will be better if you put more attention on creating better video than thinking how to reply those people
As you will see on many facebook pages for example dan blitzerian page how many haters just write hatred on there because they are jealous of the person being successful.
