I questioned this a few weeks back, and to be honest, i agree with you 100%. You see what those who are ranking well right now are currently doing, and yes, i think its lame. I guess at this point it's either play or get played.
Seems like some of the sites in the contest do heavy one way links (sitewide/regular) to their directorycontest.com details page... Still it's interesting to see how it fluctuates because of it, for guys that catch evolution the contest now they'll not understand much, but if you see it from the whole beginning it's better

That is why I listed only the directories that qualify to win prizes. Every other listing is irrelevant for this contest and imo should not receive any exposure.
Oh well, thats why these results dont have to be taken too seriously either, if a directory can outrank one of these naturally, kudos to them
Great work, Banless! I have to take another look lateron, but comparing this to what me and Jamey have been talking about, I pretty much agree with the list you have there. And I agree, we shouldn't help those who violate the rules be promoted.
Mike, Amit's directory Global Internet Index is on top but it has listing to internal contest link details page on all pages of directory.. is it allowed?? Saad
It is sad to say but amit has not removed his sitewide listing yet which is why he does not qualify as a 1st place leader right now. Hopefully he will fix it soon.

Looks like some may have their Number of results preferences set to 100 results per page. You might want to consider selecting a specific data center rather than just "Google.com" as it's hard to say how much variation will be visible on February 6th, 2007.
Those linking in their footer should be disqualified, because the damage is done at this point regardless of where they wind up ranking. It's definately NOT an honest approach, and I do recall Mike stating that footers using the text were not allowed. my .02
As i mention in the other thread-need to put it another way-Cheating is Cheating and not following the rules should be immediately disqualification! Just JMHO-(it may not cout for much,thou)
