According to Google web master central blog that an update is coming soon regards mobile friendly search results. Responsive web sites are based on mobile friendly.

Any new ideas and suggestions for expending the mobile friendly websites? Or how I can make website more search engine friendly?

Means you need to change design and layout. It's a lot of work if you must adapt your actual design. Much better to create something totally new and mobile ready. I expect an impressive chaos in Serps, since mobile friendly sites will jump over the old ones. You'll see the chaos happening :)

Though Google did many updates, I still get irrelevant search results. They are good only in destroying affiliates.

Thanks for the link. I checked the websites that I'm working on right now and they all have a score of 100! Also, I hope that there is a major change in the serps and that I benefit from it :)

It looks if this update will only affect serps on mobile devices so if a vast majority of your visitors are not from mobiles then you have nothing to worry about and concentrate on the job at hand.
If most of your visitors are from mobile platforms then you should've optimised your website long time ago.

Overall, this update will have virtually NO impact on the serp.

Everybody is looking at this mobile update on April 21st all wrong!
If you don't currently get much mobile traffic, this tells me you don't rank well for your keywords anyway. Because Google's search traffic is around 50% desktop and 50% mobile now.
Seeing how, right now the search results are the same weather it's on a desktop or mobile, until April 21st means you're not ranking.

Yet, if you did make your site responsive, come the 21st you could increase your rankings on mobile. Because a lot of sites haven't made the switch to being responsive or won't do it at all. Therefore your competition will be weaker on mobile rankings. Then you could very well be getting more mobile visits than desktop after the update. I CAN'T wait for this update, it's going to be great for me.

Sorry for being realistic... but don't hold your breath and don't expect much as virtually all decent websites, with mobile traffic, updated their websites long time ago.

It will be a hilarious update... using not-so-mobile-friendly google to search for mobile friendly sites... that's epic.

I see this as a positive for my non-responsive websites.

It gives me an opportunity to give them a fresh new look, as well as make them mobile responsive.

You will be penalized if your website isn't mobile friendly. You could lose your website ranking because of this.

I see this update as a heads up for every website. I mean, we don't have to take this update negatively.
This is actually a perfect time for us to adapt to changes, since technology is getting more and more innovative from time to time.
I'm glad that google announced it ahead of time.

If your website is not responsive, you don't belong in the top results on Google in my opinion.
